What was intended to be a moment of blessing and renewal at the start of the New Year took an unexpectedly symbolic turn at the Ecumenical Patriarchate in Fanari, during the traditional cutting of the Vasilopita by Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew.
The ceremony began under festive expectations, with clergy and members of the Greek Orthodox community gathered to mark the New Year. Almost immediately, however, a sequence of disruptions unsettled the atmosphere.
First, a sudden power outage interrupted the proceedings just as the ceremony was getting underway. Moments later, as the Patriarch attempted to cut the Vasilopita, the knife provided for the ritual unexpectedly broke. Organizers rushed to replace it, only for the second knife to fail as well—bending rather than slicing through the ceremonial bread.
The unusual chain of mishaps prompted visible reactions among those present. In a moment caught on video and widely shared online, Patriarch Bartholomew himself remarked that the ceremony appeared to be unfolding “with bad omens,” before calmly proceeding to complete the ritual.
Although the comment was made with a light tone, the symbolism resonated strongly. And, considering the many heresies and flawed policies emanating from the Phanar, it is a preview of the divine punishment to fall on the Phanariots and their followers.

Let’s pray this is a prophecy to the end of Bartholomew’s tenure by whatever means God deems necessary.
With the recent news from Russian intelligence that Bartholomew is planning to give the Montenegrin schismatics autocephaly to snub the Serbs and making more overtures in the Baltic states let’s hope God rids us of Bartholomew for the sake of Orthodox unity and the current explosion of converts.
I’m sure Bartholomew has one or two tricks up his sleeve, all intended to stiff his many enemies as he gets ready to go meet his eternal reward.
Regardless, as everything else he’s done, it will all blow up in his face.

God is giving Bartholomew numerous gentle prompts toward repentance. Others can fill his chair, yet he alone can humble himself before God. Let us pray that Bartholomew takes heed. May God have mercy on me a sinner and help me see signs prompting my own repentance!
