They are about to inspect – and exploit further – their …colony: Greece is turning without a doubt into The Puerto Rico of the Mediterranean…
By Nick Stamatakis
A decision seems to have been made in Washington DC and Jerusalem – that Greece is now a colony to be exploited in various ways – including the exploration of oil and gas, the purchase of half the country by Israelis seeking to escape the hell-hole Netanyahu turned Israel into, and whatever is left by their geopolitical aspirations against Russia, which is not much.
Reports from Athens and Washington point to a series of high-level visits by senior figures in the Trump administration — culminating, potentially, in a historic visit by President Donald Trump himself to Greece later in 2026.
The discussion intensified after comments by Ambassador to Greece Kimberly Guilfoyle during a televised appearance on ERT, in which she openly referred to upcoming visits by Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth to Athens this July, while also strongly hinting that Donald Trump is expected to visit Greece within the year.
Greek political and diplomatic circles are treating the statements as more than ceremonial rhetoric. According to major Greek news outlets, preparations are already underway for Rubio and Hegseth to travel to Athens ahead of a NATO-related regional tour that is expected to include Turkey. Their presence in Greece is widely interpreted as a signal that Washington sees Athens as a central strategic pillar in the Eastern Mediterranean amid mounting geopolitical volatility.
Greece is already dotted with countless American military or otherwise strategic installations from north to south and East to West…
Behind the scenes, the symbolism matters as much as the strategy. Sources cited in Greek media suggest that Trump’s advisers view Greece as a natural stop during America’s 250th anniversary year in 2026 — a nation historically associated with the origins of democracy and increasingly viewed in Washington as one of the United States’ most dependable regional allies.
The potential Trump visit would come at a moment when Greece has significantly elevated its standing within NATO and the broader Western security architecture. Athens has strengthened defense ties with the United States, expanded military cooperation through Souda Bay and Alexandroupoli, deepened trilateral coordination with Israel and Cyprus, and maintained strong alignment with Western policy during successive regional crises.
For Washington, Greece now represents stability, logistical reliability, and strategic access in a region stretching from the Balkans to the Middle East. For Athens, the prospect of hosting Trump, Rubio, and Hegseth within the same year would mark one of the clearest demonstrations yet of Greece’s upgraded geopolitical role.
At the same time, officials remain careful not to present the plans as finalized. No formal White House schedule has yet been released, and Greek government sources acknowledge that official confirmations are still pending. Yet the language coming from Ambassador Guilfoyle — particularly her direct assertion that “he is going to come to Greece” in reference to Trump — has fueled expectations that the visit is increasingly a matter of timing rather than possibility.
If confirmed, the sequence of visits would carry implications far beyond protocol. It would underscore the Trump administration’s intent to reinforce strategic partnerships in the Eastern Mediterranean, deepen defense coordination with Athens, and position Greece more prominently in Washington’s regional calculations, as energy security, migration pressures, NATO cohesion, and tensions with Turkey continue to reshape the geopolitical map.
And let’s not forget Greece’s HUGE oil and gas deposits: American oil giants have already signed contracts and are expected to get the lion’s share of the deals…
On top of all is Greece’s geostrategic location – literally at the heart of the globe…

The destiny of a small nation is to be depended on others. Israel depends on America to survive. If America turns against it, Israel will collapse. There is no way it can produce the missiles needed to survive an Iranian attack. Greece has more options than Israel. The EU is its home, with the US being a jellous suitor. Chine is also keeping a eye. Israel is the real danger. They’ll be Greece’s friends for as long as it suits them, which of course natural, as its nation looks after its own interests.
The oil and gas might be exploited by the huge oil companies, but what’s the alternative? Leave it in the ground? Greece doesn’t have the technical expertise needed for such a complicated enterprise. Besides, those oil companies invest billions to locate the deposits and be able to extract them. Greece can’t afford that. I’d rather see some exploitation, than no oil and gas extraction.
There is a difference between being an ass-kisser and an ally… The politicians who have been running Greece for the past 80 years are for the most part the descendants of the traitors who collaborated with the Germans during the 1941-44 occupation… The Greek Civil war created this tragedy and the need of the British and the Americans to “fight communism” expanded it… This is nothing specific to Greece: NATO was headed by a former Nazi, an assistant of Hitler… And the CIA was created by adopting Nazi intelligence and agents throughout Eastern Europe. I could go on…
But for Greece is especially painful because it posed the most glorious resistance against the Nazis throughout Europe… And because Greece represents a history much more glorious than Persia – which know has won the war against the agrressors…
As for oil and gas I am trying for a long time to find the details of the contracts signed by Chevron for the field north of Corfu… Only when I know what percentage Greece gets I will form a final opinion… But for now it looks like Greece is getting the short end of this deal.
Especially because Greece should have already developed its oil and gas sector and the ONLY reason it did not was American and western intervention. Yes they could not allow the country to be wealthy as they need to control it… And they could not handle the possibility of Greece electing a semi-independent politician.. In Zakynthos the oil still today flows out of the ground by itself… The patriot who tried to develop it (Sofianopoulos in the 1970s) was shut down by the Greek bureaucracy and I have to suspect foreign intervention…
But for those of us who know Greek history electing a patriotic politician is destiny. And it is mathematically certain it will happen..
Greece a colony of the US in conjunction with Israel? And perhaps, although not mentioned here, with a little support from France?
Those words can strike us as distasteful, but what other alternative does Greece have?
To hope for an alliance with Russia? It seems it is too late for that (I am sure that Nick can go on in detail about the mistakes that have now left Greece unable to align with Russia).
For Greece to go it alone in its diplomacy? That would be a sign to the Turks that their next attack on Greece will not be opposed.
No, my fellow diaspora folks, the current situation may be the best one to be hoped for at the present time.
If a nation who bears the burden of carrying on its shoulders the heritage of Greece does not have any other ambition than being obedient to the “Epstein Elites” then I have nothing else to say…
As for diplomacy, until the time Kyriakos Mitsotakis, took power Gr4eece under left and right governments followed the same police since 1945: Alliance with the West but never closing the door to Russia. Puppet Mitsotakis changed that door also – the minimum leeway a sensible Greek diplomacy should always have…
Finally, Spain and Italy have American military bases yet their leaders Sanchez and Meloni can open their mouth and speak the truth to the “hegemon”…. Why not Mitsotakis or others?
Yes, Mitsotakis has been bad in many foreign policy matters–and domestic matters as well.
And we must remember that Spain and Italy do not have to deal with the danger of Turkish attacks–but Greece does.
Oh, and I do like your comment elsewhere on this thread that it is mathematically certain that in the future Greece will get a patriotic politician. I hope that day comes soon.
I have mixed feelings on this. On the one hand, Greece must not get involved in the aggressive wars against Russia and Iran. On the other hand, Greece faces an existential threat from Turkey, as does Cyprus.
American diplomatic support against Turkey would be a Greek victory. No war but if Washington started sending more aid to Greece than Turkey it would be a good thing. Greece still has to worry about Turkey and the ethnic cleansing of Armenians in Nagorno Karabakh which Turkey carried out with their allies in Baku could be replicated against Greek populations on the islands and Cyprus if Turkey carried out its threats.
If the old Trump were to visit Greece, I would feel a lot better. On Russia, Trump still seems intent on avoiding conflict and resolving that war. If the Democrats were in power they would be pushing for war with Russia and would also treat Greece as a colony. In fact, when was the last time any administration did not treat Greece as a colony?
Historically, the west’s anti Russian policies going back to the Crimean War favored the Turks. Trump’s refusal to treat Russia as an enemy is good for Greece. Turkey’s importance increases whenever Russia is the enemy of the west.
Greece under Mitsotakis has made disastrous decisions in foreign policy. The worst of these policies was antagonizing the Russians. If Trump pursues reconciliation with Russia this will be a good thing. America and Russia on the same side diminishes Turkey’s importance.
On the whole, I do not thing Trump’s visit to Greece is necessarily a bad thing. Clinton’s visit in 1999 was an example of an American President treating Greece as a colony. Officials at the time said the visit was a reward for Greece letting NATO use its territory to bomb Serbia.
That was humiliation for Greece. My disdain for the Iran war and Trump’s recent policies aside, Trump has not really harmed Greece as other Presidents have done. Remember Clinton’s bullying of Greece on Imia in 1996?
In the summer of 2020, Trump stayed out of it when Turkish ships were threatening the island of Castellorizo. Trump’s neutrality at the time was an improvement over the traditional bullying of Greece in any disputes with Turkey.
The Trump visit to Greece is no worse than Clinton visiting in 1999. Greece must remember its enemy is Turkey, and not Russia or Iran.
Excellent points Theodore… But the missing element of any successful foreign policy for Greece is a sense of independence… Greece is too predictable for both its friends and its enemies…
Let us see what other countries will be on Trump’s itinerary.. Turkey to appease Erdogan?
I have no doubt he would go to Turkey (he has plenty of “business” there) – unless his Israeli masters pose objections..
Let’s begin with facts we all should agree with.
The world order is changing rapidly and drastically. The US is turning to unmasked and unprincipled “realism”. If “you don’t have any cards,” you are screwed. That’s the current US policy!
Greece, like all countries, friends and goes alike, must review its long-term foreign policy. Blind obedience to anyone, or, as Nick called it, “ass-kissing”, is tantamount to treason and national suicide.
Greece has many sound alternatives if it wishes to pursue its national interest rather than continue its treasonous path of enriching its ruling mafia.
Consider the writings of the late Basil Markezinis, who urged a new foreign policy orientation that takes the current world order into account. It is not anti-Western. It is a recognition of and response to the reality we live in.
Consider what smaller countries have done historically to ensure they are not stuck “without cards”. The classic example is Dom Mintoff, prime Minister of Malta in the 1970s and 1980s. He negotiated with the British who wanted naval bases on his island. Mintoff turned his weak, inferior bargaining position into one of strength. Why can’t Greece do that?
It is one thing for Greece to proclaim Western values and leadership in a civilization that Greece itself created. That is noble. But it is suicidal to merely whistle that tune while turning the fate of the country over to war criminals, an organized crime that will chew us up and spit us out.
Sir Basil Markesinis put it best: “Greece has to follow a poly-amorous foreign policy”…
Leonidas is absolutely correct and reflects what many thruout the world now recognize! That the Evangelical Protestants Christian and Jewish Zionist populations of Amreica and EU have been appointing and funding Political Zionist Criminal Enterprises who have been runnign a Racketeering and Protection Racket who with complicity of the lawmakers and leaders of the US , British and EU parliaments and Justicer department have violated all Constitutional laws, International laws , UN Charter laws , and Nuremburg Tribunal principles to use illegal Economic Sanctions, Tariffs, Military , Media Propaganda , and Zionist Religious Warfare which have always targeted the Civilian Population s of the countries of the world to impose as much Pain, Suffering, and death on them to extort their cooperation in surrendering their Elected offiicial, Economic , Political and Military sovereignty of not only Greece and Cyprus , but the entire world for Decades! Only religious fanatic running a Mafia operation can unilaterally start and continue to wage war on Russia , ther most powerful Nuclear force in history and Iran now a proven Regional Power in the Middle East to defend two Neo Nazi Jewish Zionist Jewish Regimes in the Ukraine and Israel because the Bible Tells them that Christians are obligated to fufill the convenants of Abraham and the Jewish people to dominate the Middle east and world ! More importantly, who wage war on Russia and Iran ..when the “Forseeable Consequences” are World War 3 and Nuclear devastation of the of Europe , America and world ?
As leonidas writes … “it is suicidal to merely whistle that tune while turning the fate of the country over to war criminals, an organized crime that will chew us up and spit us out”.
And that is exactly , what the Armageddon Army of America and EU are doing to the civilian population of the entire world , in drinking from their Religious “Kool Aid ” which is Forseeably leading to Mass Suicide of Humanity ! Greece , Cyprus and all countried of the world ..should not partake of any of these alliances …promising Engless Wars and destruction ….
In support of leonidas and my posts .. only Fanatical White Supremacist Evangelical Protestant Christian and Jewish Zionist Criminal Enterprises use Undeclared Coercive , Extortion, and Blackmail Economic Sanctions , Tariffs, Military, Political, Media propaganda , and Religious Warfare to ..”Obstruct Justice , International trade and Commerce, murder , committ Grand theft. Robbery , starve and deprive civilian populist of the countries of the world of essential living Needs and ability to maintain the welfare of their children and families, Strip them of their Economic , Political, Constitutional , and Military Sovereignty, and “Forseeably” wage this warfare on the most powerful countries of the world Russia, China, Iran which predictably is leading to catastrophic collapse of the Economies of the World, Unaffordable Energy and Essential goods to live for the poorest nations of the world , mass deaths and destruction thru Nuclear Wars , etc etc … All in the name of defending and fulfilling the Covenanst of Abraham and the Jewish people to dominate the middle East and World with Zionism! However, the populist of Greece and Cyprus should take note as to what the populist of Europe are doing in response to their leaders Suicidal compliance to Evangelical Protestant Christian and Jewish Zionist governments of America, Britain, Germany and EU/nato when acknowledged War Criminal… TRump , Rubio and Hegweth show up in their countries ….like they plan to do this Summer in Greece …

Spain urges EU to resist Trump’s sanctions
PM Pedro Sanchez has called on Brussels to shield the International Criminal Court from US pressure over its war crimes case against Israel
The European Union should shield the International Criminal Court from US sanctions linked to its case against Israel’s alleged war crimes in Gaza, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez has said.
In 2024, the ICC issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant over alleged atrocities against Palestinians in the enclave by the Israel Defense Forces.
The ICC’s jurisdiction is currently recognized by 125 countries. However, the US and Israel are not signatories to the Rome Statute.
In a post on X on Wednesday, Sanchez wrote that “sanctioning those who defend international justice puts the entire human rights system at risk.”
“The EU cannot remain idle in the face of this persecution,” the prime minister charged, adding that he had asked the European Commission to “activate the Blocking Statute to protect the independence of the International Criminal Court and the United Nations, and their actions to end the genocide in Gaza.”
There is much agreement here. I especially like Bob’s point, that Greece is useful to Israel –until it’s not.
As much as I wish for the disbandment of NATO and American troops coming home en masse, I fear that Israel is trying to pry Turkey out of NATO’s clutches, giving promises to Greece attack Turkey from the West.
Interesting times.
P.S. I read from the UOJ that a Ukrainian exarchate under the EP has joined a schismatic Ukrainian “patriarchate of Kyiv”. What’s even more delicious is that this same body is now setting up an exarchate in Greece, right under the EP’s nose. The Church of Greece will now have to live with consequences of their unfortunate decision to recognize Epiphany. Russia of course has slammed the door in Greece’s face because of this.
How will this play out? Not well I imagine.
The chickens are coming home to roost.
The only thing Greece can do with Turkey is extend its claim of twelve nautical miles in the Aegean. Less likely might be an attempt to help Cyprus reclaim territory in Cyprus. Attacking Turkey flat out is not likely.
Greece has no claim to Turkish territory. All the Greeks are long gone from there.
If Greece hits Turkey, sixty million plus angry Turks will fight and Turkey will invade Greece in Thrace and the islands.
As corrupt as the Greek leadership is, they are not stupid. Certainly, they will not do this for an international pariah like Israel. The greater danger is what Greece might do at the behest of Washington.
In my opinion, there is no chance of Greece attacking Turkey. What I am afraid of is Greece getting involved in the wars against Iran and Russia. The cornerstone of Greek policy should be no involvement against Russia and Iran.
Other than that they should hear what Trump has to say when he visits. The extended ceasefire with Iran is a good sign. If Trump reverts to his previous anti war stance and if he refuses to support Ukraine, the possibility of Greek cooperation with the US might be possible against Turkey. Not a war but the US cutting off aid to Turkey.
If I am not this Kiev Patriarchate was Philaret’s group? I think he had an old calendar group in Greece under him. Is this a new group being set up in Greece?
I agree the Archbishop of Greece and those bishops in Greece who voted with him are responsible for this growing mess.
Since President Trump has failed to make any monumental “Deals” with the Russians’ Iranians’ Ukrainians , Israeli’s, Palestinian’s, and many other nations, perhaps it would be the appropriate time and place , the opportunity to attempt to deliver a genuine ” Deal with the Greeks” by visiting Greece this summer of 2026. There will be over 40 million visitors going to Greece this summer-that is 4 times its population . No other nation receives those numbers per capita! There must be many reasons that these people value, besides the sunshine and souvlaki. Hellenic Inspiration perhaps?? Pres. Trump should consider his options, for his survival, due to the dilemma of his unkept campaign promises that took him to the White House. Since Pres. Trump’s Presidency is in state of turbulence ,
it maybe the critical time to review with the RESET button? perhaps the Greeks can help him, from the two raging wars , in order to save his Presidency, by achieving World Peace! There are many good reasons for any US President to Visit Greece routinely, during their administration and this year 2026 is no exception. Pres. Trump should be open minded, well advised , to go to the historic topos- Greece on June 16th 2026
to celebrate his birthday on the Acropolis. He should announce to the American and the Greek People that , how proud is to be in Athens, to touch the stones that Ancient Greek People walked on. Greeks who inspired the American Founding Fathers, with the epic wisdom to establish The US Constitution in 1776. There is no state in America that does not have a city, town, village without a Greek Name-from Philadelphia PA, to Eureka CA Syracuse NY to Marathon TX ,from Athens GA to Olympia WA! Apparently, the emerging focus of US foreign policy interests are shifting towards Greece as ,hence , it is now diminishing from the damaging Israeli Propagandas of the past. .Pres. Trump should raise in unison the US and Greek Flag to commemorate the 250th USA Anniversary of Independence on July 4th on the Acropolis near the Parthenon. He would be attracted with admiration, on the vision and workmanship of the Parthenon, as an experienced and former developer.
Greek Hospitality would be of the highest importance for his successful trip. PM Mitsotakis, should welcome Pres. Trump with Greek Philoxenia to
award him as an honorary citizen of Athens with the “Periclean Prize”. Pres. Trump should visit and meet with the scholars and academics at the American School of Classical Studies at Kolonaki , Athens, founded in 1881 . More than 200 US Universities and Colleges fund the vast archaeological scholarship work , by establishing the best academic institution in the world. This year is the 100th anniversary of celebrating the “Gennadius Library”! I insist it is a -opportunity not to miss, as 2026 is a crucial year to celebrate Pres. Trump’s trip to Greece. Next , he should visit Delphi where many leaders, kings, travelers of the past , visited to be enlightened, to attain wisdom for their various endeavours. While at Delphi, Pres. Trump should seriously consider the mission of the neglected duty to attain permanent peace in the Mediterranean Sea by signing the UNCLOS Documents that guarantee the official status of the Aegean Islands , defining the 12 mile limit in accordance with the International Laws of the Seas. Pres. Trump’s final destination should be the location of Olympia in the Peloponnese . Pres. Trump , attire, will be dressed in a Hellenic Chiton , along with his Envoy Guilfoyle-now Miss Athena- will be crowned with a Gold Medal by making the Presidential Proclamation on behalf of the IOC-International Olympic Committee that the Ancient Hellenic Practice of “Ekecheiria” will be imposed at once in 2026 to honor the Olympic Truce , to honor the highest athletic event-The Olympic Games- on the International Stage that will take place at Los Angeles in 2028 to accommodate over 200 nations and over 10,000 athletes in the name of World Peace. Thereby, Pres. Trump may- be at the right place at the right time to successfully accomplish the “Deal”, that is of important significance with his attributes, as required; upon visiting Greece this summer along with many 40 millions Phil-Hellenes who seek inspiration,
from their educational, meaningful ,exciting experiences invigorated by the Hellenic World!
