—————–
The “Curse of Saint Nicholas” has already fallen on the faithless and heretic leadership of our Church here and in Istanbul. Heresy was evident during the pandemic, was stamped on the architecture of Saint Nicholas at Ground Zero, and heresy is being planned in the rushed “co-celebration” of 2025 Easter with the Catholics – without having solved the dogmatic differences between the two Churches. The curse is already manifested in the emptying Churches abandoned by the faithful, in the emptying NYC, having fewer visitors than at any time in recent memory.
By Nick Stamatakis
On the eve of Saint Nicholas’s celebration, one of the holiest days in the Christian calendar, and just days after the Saint Nicholas Shrine in Ground Zero opened for worship, the image that comes effortlessly to my mind is that of Saint Nicholas slapping Arius in the First Ecumenical Council of Nicaea (325 AD), a slap (the Greek word is ράπισμα) intended to bring Arius back to his senses… We can easily imagine Saint Nicholas acting similarly today, only that he would need to slap many more “leaders” and first among them Pat. Bartholomew… And he would have many more reasons and many more heresies to protest…
1) Saint Nicholas, the Saint of humility and selflessness, would be taken aback by the monstrous desecration of his memory by building an over $100 million (founded on corruption and financial crimes) architectural disaster described as a “Shrine”, a building that has been already proven (please link here to see our post last year by professor Maro Kardamitsi-Adami) not to reflect the Orthodox Faith!! And how could it reflect our Faith when it is built by a Jew (Santiago Calatrava)? We all know that architectural inspiration regarding religious places of worship is always founded on faith!! As Professor Kardamitsi-Adami notes, Christianity does not mourn, it rejoices when it meets its God “Blessed is the way.” Calatrava built a place of mourning, and clueless and faithless Elpidophoros goes around “promoting” Saint Nicholas as a “cenotaph” and a “bereavement center”… Like the “Wailing Wall” of Jerusalem…
I will only add that if you walk around the “Shrine”, there is no way to see the small cross they installed at the top; to see it, you need to be in the tall buildings around Ground Zero or ride a helicopter!! Should I also mention that Saint Nicholas would not like AT ALL the special area in the “Shrine” where everyone – meaning people of all faiths – would be allowed to “pray”… “This is not my Church,” Saint Nicholas would say… “This is a pagan house of pan-religion”… Here is the proof…

There was an easier way to build a Church honoring Saint Nicholas, and it was Archbishop Iakovos who showed the way: I am referring to the church of my town, Saint Nicholas of West Babylon, built in the 1980s… Archbishop Iakovos, I have learned, was instrumental in sending architect Mr.Papadakos, to the original place of Saint Nicholas, in Myra of Lycia in Asia Minor, to study the remains of the Church there. Below is a photo of the Saint Nicholas Church in Myra (and you can link here for a full video):

And when Mr.Papadakos returned home, he built the Church of our town in West Babylon, New York (photo below)… This is what architectural inspiration by faith and tradition meant for Saint Nicholas in Babylon under the direction of a wise leader, AB Iakovos… Later on, an unwise priest, the now Chancellor of GOARCH, Fr. Nektarios Papazafiropoulos, brought the parish to its knees, and many parishioners asked for his removal… Today, under a young priest full of faith, Fr. Dimitrios Kazakis, assisted by an energetic parish council, the Church of Saint Nicholas in Babylon is among the few GOARCH churches that flourish and experience growth after the pandemic!! A Church where Saint Nicholas truly feels at home!!

2) Saint Nicholas would have more than a word to say and many slaps to give to Pat. Bartholomew for the unbelievable blasphemy to place himself, a heretic and a sinner of the worst kind, at the same level as the Saint (instead of kneeling and asking for forgiveness) at the iconography of the lobby of Saint Nicholas at Ground Zero…

3) Others are better equipped theologically to describe the endless heresies we lived during the pandemic imposed on us by the “Satan worshippers” of the globalist cabal… Not only they closed down the Churches – while keeping the liquor stores open – but they used all kinds of heretic re-interpretations of our liturgical traditions to impress the idea that our holy communion could transmit diseases… Bartholomew, Elpidophoros, and other faithless leaders were the chief propagators of the heresies…
4) Both Bartholomew and Elpdophoros introduced “novel” ideas in Orthodoxy, such as the infamous “Primus Sine Paribus” (First Without Equals), a principle on which the Patriarch wants to be a Pope, an idea alien to the synodically organized Orthodox Faith!! Furthermore, they plan for a joint Orthodox-Catholic celebration of Easter in 2025 – without first solving the significant dogmatic differences…
5) Both Bartholomew and Elpidophoros, playing a failing political game – got involved in the Ukrainian confrontation of the Globalist cabal with Russia. Giving “autocephaly” to the 20% of Ukrainian Orthodox faithful, they caused a worldwide Schism in Orthodoxy. In the process of a very violent war the last nine months, they do not seem to care at all for the fate of the 150,000 Greeks of Eastern Ukraine just because they happen to be under the Moscow Patriarchate…
Is the Curse of Saint Nicholas coming? It is already here!!
Let’s count the many ways the Curse of Saint Nicholas is here:
- The Saint Nicholas building project and GOARCH are under two separate criminal investigations by the Southern District of New York!! Recently, we have learned that the federal investigators have given a plea deal to the former finance director Jerry Dimitriou, who has supplied them with a ton of evidence – otherwise, how would he be charged with only one count (!!) of tax evasion? He will likely end up escaping any jail sentence.
- The faithful are abandoning the Churches at a record pace, creating substantial financial and other problems… The two most prominent parishes in Queens, New York, St. Demetrios of Astoria and St.Nicholas of Flushing, which used to have several thousand members each just a few years ago, are now under severe financial crisis!! And they are worrying about losing real estate property to the banks!!
- After years of disastrous policies by leftist Mayor Diblasio and even more leftist Governor Hochul, NYC is now a rat-infested place where very few tourists would consider a visit. The “30 million visitors annually” at the planning of Saint Nicholas at Ground Zero are now more likely not even 30,000… It seems that the “Shrine” will hardly be able to cover its expenses, which is why the Port Authority demanded an extra $3 million additional to be used for regular expenses in case the “Shrine” proves a financial failure!!
Yes, Saint Nicholas has shown his will and demands repentance!!

Well, Helleniscope has knocked my socks off with this news. I grew up in North Babylon. I was raised Catholic. I resented how everything changed all of a sudden in the Catholic Church. It was a shock to me. In my senior years I deeply committed myself to Greek Orthodox Christianity. And now what?
Here I am today bearing witness to to the total anarchy taking place in Christianity. I will not submit to the heresy.
The greatest mistake church leaders made was falling for the 5013c non profit status “perk” awarded to them by the wicked President Lyndon B. Johnson in 1954.
Little did I know that many bishops are also intelligence agents.
Laugh as you may and say you do not believe it. One day soon, you all will wake up what the banker Jews did to control Christianity.
Isn’t it time the Jewish family banker dynasty joined humanity instead of trying to run the world? This really saddens me. We all would like to be your friend instead of your foe.
It is long overdue for Christians to rise against this so called Great Reset. We follow Christ only not the WEF.
Total stupidity has overcome the dynasty bankers interlocking with corporations. Their lust for global power is psychopathic.
Read here about inclusive capitalism approved by the corrupt Pope Francis:

A deep bow to Helleniscope for bringing light into the darkness. I am forever grateful for all you have done for Orthodox Christians. We
Jane, glad to hear you come from this part of the world…
Yes, I lived off of Deer Park Avenue. Went to be North Babylon H.S. It was a beautiful town..
No wonder everyone who sees expensive St. Nicholas Shrine says it looks like a mausoleum not a church…
Santiago Calatrava the architect,
proved to be ridiculous choice, being a Jew, his design is not Orthodox Christian and not spiritually inspiring.
I wonder in future how many will Sunday visit on steady basis?
Nick, I am extremely troubled by your continued reference to the “curse of St Nicholas.” St Nicholas does not and would not curse anyone. Please do not continue to misuse and defame the Saints name. Additionally, you conveniently post articles by AB Vigano, when he supports your political agenda . I assume you consider him a heretic seeing that he is not Orthodox.
Yes, our leaders are flawed as we are. The GOA is in need of repentance, both corporately and individually. Our leaders need to focus on Christ and the message of salvation and new life that can only be found in Him. The GOA fas lost its first love-Jesus.
I think you misinterpret the issue here. To put it simply when Jesus “chased the merchants out the temple” did he do it out of hate? Or his use of violence is an example for us (as, by the way, the communists used to interpret it). No, he did not. He did it as a call for repentance. Of course Saint Nicholas would not put a curse on anyone. But those who desecrate his memory and those who are blasphemous to his name “are cursed”… Again it is a call for repentance- please take a look to the last sentence of this article. As for the Catholics, there is a reason why we celebrate Saint Mark of Ephesus… Because at his time he had to deal with another heretic Patriarch of Constantinople who, being in times of need, with the Ottomans before the gates, he thought it would be politically expedient to abandon the teachings of the Faith and rush to a quick reunification with Catholicism… Hoping that the Catholics will help save Constantinople… Today we are dealing with a similar political calculation, only that both the Pope and the Patriarch are on the side of the globalists, as they promote homosexuality and destroy the family. In that sense of course I will publish AB Vigano as much as possible. But if you want an expert theological analysis of the dogmatic differences with the Catholics look elsewhere. I am more into politics than theology. But when I see political expediency being prioritized over faith it’s easy for me to become a preacher and a theologian… And I don’t think a ten century old dispute can be pushed under the rug so quickly.
Τhere is always a difference between working to over come division ; something that Christ always blesses, and glorifying in it as some seem to do , and sadly as an end in itself.
However that may be , it’s clear that the official theological differences between orthodox and catholics remain and are not resolved.
Only difference is that now we are not quite sure who exactly is wearing which label !! ( First among not equals !!)
And indeed it’s possible that there is more papisn on our side now than amongst ordinary modern catholics in their pews .
Happy Saint Nicholas Day to all Nicks out there!
& let’s hope St. Nicholas above will slap Bartholomew hard enough to step down already.
Today my mind flies to the memories of
those years that I was celebrating as
crew member and as Captain later with my
crew during my voyages to peaceful and
unpeasful oceans , our Saint Nicholas day.
That ikon at ground zero church with PB
and Saint Nick is STIGMA for the Saint for
the church, for the entire Orthodoxy and
has to be removed.
The collapse of the faith is mirroring the collapse of society. Stay close to Christ, Panaghia, and the holy saints. Times are going to get much more difficult. “For there shall be then great tribulation, such as hath not been from the beginning of the world until now, neither shall be. And unless those days had been shortened, no flesh should be saved: but for the sake of the elect those days shall be shortened.” (Matt 24:21-22)
could the $100 million could not have been used more effectively for a wing at st. jude’s hospital?
is this a GREEK orthodox church, or is it an Eastern Orthodox Chrisitian Monument built in rememberance of all that perished on 911 which is focused on all those Eastern Orthodox Christians and all those potential Eastern Orthodox Christians who perished? i.e doest it focus on the tragedy and its impact?
Is it a shrine for all Americans to embrace and obtain solace and comfort, or its is display of Greek engrandizement?
Doesn’t the Eastern Orthodox Chrisitan Church offer soace and comfort to All in need? Isn’t that what Jesus did? He did not look at the membership card or ethnic roots before He administered His love and healing?
I see nothing related to this in the article.
i am in fear of the answers.
Why are you in fear? Hasn’t Helleniscope proven to all of you that we are not afraid to touch all the issues? Fear does not have a place in my heart or in this website…
I will tell you a story that I have verified: Father Romas (the last priest of Saint Nicholas BEFORE 9/11- he died a few years ago) used to have a vesper service every Wednesday that was known to the people working at the Twin Towers across the parking lot. This Wednesday service turned out to be a “prayer service” for everyone regardless of race, gender, ethnicity, religious/denominational affiliation, etc. Nobody was bothered by the fact that as they were entering the Church, they saw in big fat letters “Greek Orthodox Church,” and nobody said a word about the two flags, American and Greek, lining the two sides of the entrance door. Nobody cared that the whole service was done in Greek either!.. Do we care about not knowing Italian when we are at the Opera? They all found solace that the Ecumenical Saint Nicholas was there to listen to their thoughts and prayers…
Let’s not forget that Saint Nicholas was started as a Church and was maintained by Greek shipowners… Who would have more faith in the Saint than these seamen? Who would embody the ecumenical (and cosmopolitan) Hellenic worldview better than them?
Thousands of years of cosmopolitanism and ecumenism (practiced in real life and not just preached) in one little, humble Greek Church of Saint Nicholas…
Let me close by saying that since the times of the first Greek colonization (in the Black Sea and in the Mediterranean starting about 1,000 BC, since the times of Alexander the Great (4th century BC and after), and later throughout history Greek Ecumenism was always the opposite of “western, dominant, colonialism.” Do we realize that the Greeks hated the “Crusaders” more than the Arabs/Muslims did? This is why today, the diplomats of Greece have the easiest job on Earth, and all doors are open to them anywhere on Earth, from Africa to Latin America and from East Asia to the Middle East.
Until the times of the Faithless Bartholomew and the modern politicians – puppets of the globalists…
I am hoping these “historical generalizations” can help shed light on these issues…
Well said Helleniscope!
Orthodox faithful are grateful knowing what’s going down from Phanar & exposing the disgrace of Bartholomew
WORLD BIOGRAPHY writes about Santiago Calatrava that:
“returning to Valencia, Calatrava enrolled at its Institute of Architecture, a course of study he decided upon after having seen a building by modernist master Ludwig Mies van der Rohe that impressed him tremendously. He also studied urban planning at the school. After graduating in 1974, he was still determined to leave Spain, which would remain under Generalissimo Francisco Franco’s dictatorial rule for another two years. He traveled to Zürich, Switzerland, to enroll at the city’s Federal Institute of Technology, where Albert Einstein had once studied. He earned two Ph.Ds. from the school, the first in structural engineering and the second in technical science. The structural-engineering training was a somewhat unusual choice of study for an architect, for few in either field are trained in both.”
Calatrava is also a sculptor snd ceramics artist and therefore a very competent and inspired architect of unique works in many countries.
Well, Calatrava may have all the credentials in the world – but building a Church, especially Saint Nicholas, has to do with inspiration coming from faith. Prof. Kardamitsi-Adami was 100% right about this…
