One of the four or five reasons I decided to coin the nickname “Elpidoktonos”(“Hope-killer”) for the Archbishop on the day of his election was his “diatribe” on “Religion and Geopolitics In Ukraine” for its monumental hypocrisy and its Phanariot pretentiousness. At the time (May 2019), it was known that Elpidophoros was a mediocre and uninspiring theologian. His boring theological ventures did not attract much attention, and his stay for a few months in America in the 2010s left a negative impression on all of us regarding his educational level and Phanariot character. I still remember – and I am sure many among us – his “analyses” of the Greek-American Church and community, which pretended to know in great depth while he had never lived here.
For his “geopolitical” knowledge, what can one say? No educational background in international relations and no practical experience except for serving at some inter-orthodox boards. On the opposite, plenty of Phanariot megalomania and an extra-heavy dose of political expediency: Just a few months before he arrived in America, it dawned on him to write an article on “Religion and Geopolitics in Ukraine” (of all places… To prove to his Masters that he is ready to assume the role of the “Grand Puppet” and that he can play a role in the West’s planned attack on Russia, where Ukraine was known (for at least 20 years) to be the battleground.
Today, we learned that this “article” turned into a book (God help us)… During his stay in Salonica, he visited the Turkish consul Serkan Sadik, and he offered him as a present his book on “Religion and Geopolitics in Ukraine”… The Archbishop wrote on his Twitter: “Pleased to present my book on #Ukraine to the Turkish Consul General Serkan Gedik in Thessaloniki, the very city from where the brothers, Cyril and Methodios, emerged to bring the Gospel to the Slavs.”
I have never seen such a concoction of bizarre publicity effort by any public figure. But what can we all expect from the minuscule personality of Elpidoktonos… We will be patient for a little while longer… But mistake upon mistake and heresy upon heresy, there is no place for him to stand in America…

The Ecumenical Patriachate of today, is way beyond its glory days, and is beggining to become more and more an auxillary branch of the Turkish State that the Greek community worldwide is funding. While I respect the mission that the Patriachate claims to represent, as well as the Order of Saint Andrew, the fact is actions such as taking such an alienating position against Russia, lack of clarity about positions regarding homosexuality, abortion, and lack of proper dialogue with the heirarchs within the church of Greece, makes me sincerely question what kind of future the Greek Orthodox people face.
Regarding His Eminence Elpidophoros: His Eminence has the ability to carry put these delegations, maximize his use of social media, be physically present in many places, competent in many areas of the spiritual domain, aware of geopolitical situations and able to comment on them. In many ways this makes the faith much more tangible to the masses. I believe as a church we are suppprtive of these actions.
Where I believe the wheat is being seperated from the chaft is in regard to His Eminence and His All Holiness are allowing these issues that are satanic, confusing, anti Christian, and Anti Hellenic to continue presenting itself within the media and within their schedules and public appearances. The Turkish State clearly is beneffiting from this confusion and from the Patriachate’s slience on these issue. Why won’t they commment on it?
Doesn’t His All Holiness EP Bartholomeo always say that “Truth does not fear dialogue”. Their silence is letting the powers or this world have the last word at the greater good’s expense.
We need leaders who arent afraid to speak up, even if it makes waves and puts themselves in harm’s way. How can we even talk about doing a better job at unifying when we are allowimg these confusing matters to take the forefront of docket in today’s events and when one side asks questiions and discusses matters and the other side ignores and/or rams down their own positions and agenda.
We need to do better and be better. There is no more time.for.lip service
Very well written comment. I do agree with lack of clarity on homosexuality and abortion on the archbishop. The most egregious point that he made during the abortion debate was that “the virgin had a choice to carry Christ or not” Which made it sound as if she contemplated abortion. Actually, her choice was before she found herself pregnant. It is amazing that he could make such an error. I think he’s trying to satisfy both sides of the debate and you can not do that.
Well said and sounds nice , however, the reality is much more brutal ! The self proclaimed Zionist leader of America, democratic ruling party and “New World Order’ is accused of being an “Influence Peddler” for China, Ukraine and Israel! State department war criminal; Geoffrey Pyatt , and best friend of EPi and Bartholomew has built the entire case for ethnically and relgiously cleansing Russia from Europe and Greece, when he spent the last 10 years stating that …Russia uses oil and Church or religion to spread false narratives, and have a “Negative Influence “on the democracies of Europe! Hence, the goal of the war in Ukraine was to make Russia and the Orhtodox Church enemies of Europe , and destroy any Econiomi, Political , and military relationships with Europe and especially the growing relationship with Germany , thru the Nordstream Pipelone contract and construction which would open Russia’s growing relationship in Western Europe, both Religiously and Economically! After decade3s of providing Europe with Affordable oil and gas and not threatening anybody … we suddenly watch EU/Nato puppets of America literally sabatage the Economic, Political, and military peace and security of the populiat of Europe by joining U.S to wage war on behalf of a Neo Nazi Regime installed by U.S and Nato, and commit the greatest war crime in history the blowing up of the Energy Security of Western Europe ..the Nordsteam Pipeline! Their is no confusion as toe what Epi and Bart are … they are “Influence Peddlers” of the Satanic Empire of lies, the Evangelical Zionist dominant government of America, who believe and if you haven’t noticed that they are the “Chosen People of the world.. to rule earth on behalf of God ! Certainly it is. As we all remember the thought started circulating last year after the establishment of the Exarchate in Africa.
The Ecumenical Patriarchate has fallen into heresy and schism. The Orthodox people deserve a canonical Church structure. Bless the Church of Russia for providing it!
