EDITOR’S NOTE (Nick Stamatakis) We can all fret about the future of Greece and Hellenism with all that we witnessed around us these last few years, but suddenly we come across such an authentic talent as Yiannis Haroulis (link here for its bio), coming out of the womb of “mother Crete”, and you have a feeling that NO, this country, this people will never fall victim to the “Erinyes” of fake modernity… Haroulis, by singing the Erotokritos, the famous Cretan medieval love song and the lullaby that my grandmother used to sing to me every night, brought back to the surface, the essence of our culture and thousands of years of civilization… Looking at his videos and the huge youthful audiences around him, we get not simply hopeful but certain that a new dawn, a new cultural awakening will soon bring back the glory that used to be Greece… And that it will rise again from its ashes, like a Phoenix…
