Mihalis Haralambidis was a great patriot who tried to oppose the puppets of foreign powers inside his party (former PM Simitis) and warned, with prophetic words, of the dangers of Greece entering the eurozone. Έφυγε από τη ζωή το ιστορικό στέλεχος του ΠΑΣΟΚ, Μιχάλης Χαραλαμπίδης
Την τελευταία του πνοή, μόνος στο σπίτι του στη Γλυφάδα και σε ηλικία 73 ετών, άφησε το ιστορικό στέλεχος του ΠΑΣΟΚ Μιχάλης Χαραλαμπίδης, που υπηρέτησε με σθένος μέχρι το τέλος της ζωής του το αποκαλούμενο «πατριωτικό ΠΑΣΟΚ» και συγκρούστηκε με το καθεστώς του… εκσυγχρονιστή Κώστα Σημίτη.
Γνωστός ως «Ιταλός», μέλος του ΠΑΚ επί χούντας, συνέβαλε στη συγγραφή της ιδρυτικής διακήρυξης του ΠΑΣΟΚ που παρουσιάστηκε στις 3 Σεπτέμβρη του 1974 από τον Ανδρέα Παπανδρέου, ενώ διετέλεσε μέλος της Κεντρικής Επιτροπής του ΠΑΣΟΚ από το 1977.
Γεννημένος στην Αλεξανδρούπολη το 1951, σπούδασε Πολιτικές και Οικονομικές Επιστήμες με μεταπτυχιακό στην Κοινωνιολογία.
Αποχώρησε από το ΠΑΣΟΚ το 1999 μετά από σοβαρές πολιτικές διαφωνίες που είχε με την πορεία του κόμματος επί Σημίτη. Ίδρυσε την «Δημοκρατική Περιφερειακή Ένωση», με την οποία μετείχε στις βουλευτικές εκλογές του 2000 και στις ευρωεκλογές του 2004.
Οι θέσεις του πάντα πατριωτικές και μάλιστα το 1988 στην εισήγησή του στο Δεύτερο Παγκόσμιο Ποντιακό Συνέδριο πρότεινε τη δημιουργία πόλης στα παράλια της Θράκης με την ονομασία Ρωμανία και να ονομαστεί η περιφέρεια Θράκη – Ρωμανία. Το 1997, 204 βουλευτές κατέθεσαν πρόταση στο κοινοβούλιο για τη δημιουργία της, χωρίς όμως αποτέλεσμα.
Δική του ήταν η πρόταση, που υιοθετήθηκε το 1994 από το Κοινοβούλιο, για την αναγνώριση της 19ης Μαΐου ως Ημέρα Μνήμης της Ποντιακής Γενοκτονίας.
Ιστορική έχει μείνει η ομιλία του στο 6ο συνέδριο του ΠΑΣΟΚ το 1996, όταν αναφέρθηκε στην αυξημένη πιθανότητα οικονομικής κρίσης στην Ελλάδα που μάλιστα την τοποθετούσε το 2004 ή το 2010!
The historical executive of PASOK, Michalis Charalambidis, has passed away
He clashed with the Simitis regime, while at the 6th Conference of the party in 1996 he prophetically spoke of an economic crisis that will come to the country in 2004 or 2010!
His last breath, alone in his home in Glyfada and at the age of 73, left the historical executive of PASOK Michalis Charalambidis, who served with vigor until the end of his life the so-called “patriotic PASOK” and clashed with the regime of… modernizer Kostas Simitis.
Known as “the Italian,” he was a member of the PAK during the junta and contributed to the writing of the founding declaration of PASOK presented on September 3, 1974, by Andreas Papandreou. He was also a member of the Central Committee of PASOK from 1977.
Born in Alexandroupolis in 1951, he studied Political and Economic Sciences with a master’s degree in Sociology.
He left PASOK in 1999 after serious political disagreements with the party’s course under Simitis. He founded the “Democratic Regional Union,” with which he participated in the parliamentary elections of 2000 and the European elections of 2004.
His positions are always patriotic, and in fact, in 1988, in his presentation to the Second World Pontic Congress, he proposed the creation of a city on the coast of Thrace called Romania and named the region Thrace – Romania. In 1997, 204 MPs submitted a proposal to parliament for its creation, but without result.
His proposal was adopted in 1994 by Parliament to recognize May 19 as Pontic Genocide Remembrance Day.
His speech at the 6th PASOK conference in 1996 has remained historic. In it, he referred to the increased possibility of an economic crisis in Greece, placing it in 2004 or 2010!
