The Greek American Democrat Establishment Globalist Elites were busy in the past fifty years consolidating power and wealth using their Democrat Party Deep State connections at the expense of Hellenism.
They gave great speeches at huge banquets in Chicago, San Francisco, Washington DC, and New York City.
How much money have they sucked over time while nothing was done to establish Classical Greek charter schools or centers? The Greek Americans can introduce the Greek language in everyday academics to Greek American kids and others.
Before 1950, schools in America taught the Greek Classics, Greek language, and Latin language. It was a requirement to enter the university.
Marxists replaced the Classical Christian education with a Marxist one with no focus on the Classics or Christianity. Wokeness in America condemns anything European, including the Ancient Greek Classics.
Non-Greek parents have pulled their kids out of failing government schools in the past three years due to the COVID-19 lockdowns, vaccine mandates, and LGBTQ brainwashing. The schools are far worse in Democrat-controlled states and cities. I feel sorry for any kid attending school in Chicago, Baltimore, Los Angeles, etc.
Hellenism is collapsing across America as all older Greek immigrants are passing away in huge numbers each month. They spoke Greek and were in organizations to uphold Greek traditions, customs, cooking, history, etc.
In my observation, the kids and grandkids of these Greek immigrants do not attend church or go to Greek events once their Greek-born grandparent/parent passes away.
Many Greek Orthodox Churches have no Greek language school for kids born here with grandparents/great-grandparents or parents from Greece.
As we have seen in the past twenty years, the Greek Orthodox Church since the 1990’s do not represent Hellenism. Many parishes, especially in the Western States America, are focusing on non-Greek converts to Orthodoxy. Many churches do not hold Greek Independence Day or OXI Day events. The priests are afraid to speak for Hellenic history, customs, or traditions.

Archbishop Elpidoforos is a Turkish agent and a Washington DC Deep State Asset. The same man who supported Ukraine while Zelensky was arresting Orthodox Priests across Zelensky-Nazi-dominated Ukraine. Zelensky banned the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. The whole Greek Orthodox Church leadership and AHEPA need to be embarrassed for supporting Ukrainian Nazis.
Elpidoforos supported the Covid lockdowns of our churches. He promoted the deadly Covid-19 vaccines. How many Greek Americans have died in higher than average numbers since the vaccine roll-out?
Elpidoforos supported the Satanic BLM movement in 2020, which saw our cities being looted and burned.
I was part of the SAE(World Council of Greeks Abroad) effort in the late 1990s and early 2000s. The Greek Socialist Party(PASOK) controlled SAE and threw millions on this which yielded no permanent structure. There are dedicated Greeks born overseas that I met, but the effort fell flat by 2005. Greece is broke to spend any money like SAE.
Not only this, PASOK shut down our discussions on prosecutions of Greeks in Albania, Skopia name issue, and Cyprus. The men in suits spent lots of money for our flights, hotels, meals, and to party in Thessaloniki nightclubs.
A call to action for Hellenic Revival is needed.
Reintroduce the Greek language, history, culture, and food to Greek Americans is needed.
The issue is how many Greek Americans do not know Modern and Ancient Greek history. They are lucky if their parent or grandparents instilled pride in learning Greek history, language, and history.
Why do I hear Mexican Americans who were born and raised in California speak Spanish?
Why are Greek Americans born and raised in America embarrassed to speak Greek to each other?

What can I say? Blame it on everybody else, so you will feel better. Blame it all on PASOK, that has been out of power for two decades, with the intermission of ΓΑΠ you know, the failed George Papandreou.
Ok tell us how many Charter Schools did YOU help establish? Thank you. So let’s see you help organize a group, and start a new Charter School and then call us to help. And stop the blame, it does not get you anywhere.

This shouldn’t be seen as a bad thing. Greek Orthodoxy isn’t just for Greeks, same with every other Orthodox jurisdiction.
The biggest enemy of American Greeks is American Greeks themselves. They have embraced secularism more than any other Orthodox group. There can be no Hellenism revival without Orthodoxy.
Why do the kids of Greek immigrants not come to Church? I highly doubt it’s because the liturgy is not in Greek…
Mexicans not only speak spanish, but those who work in Greek restaurants speak Greek as well. Someone can learn more Greek working 40 hours in a restaurant for years, among greek speaker, than few hours a week in a “greek” school. The Church has failed Hellenism in America and I am not sure how this can turn around. The numbers of greek speakers are decreasing rapidly. The same is true in…Greece as well. Not sure how long will the greek language survive the constant attack and mutation by the English.
We should have no doubt about the survival of the Greek language. Its penetration in ALL western languages (including Russian and Eastern European) is so deep that it will be there forever. The language has been under external threats before (mostly from Turkish) but it managed to assimilate all external influences and at the right moment it revived. It will happen again. There is no language as “plastic” or “elastic” or adoptable as the Greek. There is no language more poetic than the Greek. The jo of speaking it and using it is indescribable. It draws from Archaic/Homeric Greek, Hellenistic/Bible Greek, Byzantine/Medieval and Folk/Modern Literature in such multiple ways that make her irreplaceable. As I said many times and it still true today Greece is the only country on Earth where someone can answer the question “What do you do for a living” with “I am a poet” and be taken seriously… But in America I agree with you we are faced with a big problem. If we had serious “Education Directors” at GOA we would make it a priority to begin programs that rekindle the interest of the youth in Greek. Make it relevant in their lives, make them proud of this heritage. There are ways. But the education office, under Koularmanis and Stamkopoulos, does next to nothing. They should put together a team that could produce materials (handbooks and videos) that make Greek as relevant as possible. There are such materials in Greece. They need to be applied in our every day reality.
