EDITOR’S NOTE (Nick Stamatakis). When you see Vangelis Marinakis (shipowner and media mogul – Tovima, tinea, Mega Channel), who has been a close associate of Kyriakos Mitsotakis for many years, turning against the Greek PM, you know things are going South for the prime minister. My theory is that the shipowners (mostly) and businessmen who control the overwhelming majority of the Greek media (print, online, TV) have turned against him to protect their interests first. Regarding the shipowners, one cannot fail to note that their interests for three millennia, and even more so for the last three centuries, are the same as the interests of Greece. The shipowners constitute the most critical “ecumenical” pillar of Greece and Hellenism.
Over the last few years, especially in light of the Ukraine crisis and the emerging multipolar world, Mitsotakis has been practicing a one-sided, pro-Western policy that goes against the shipowners’ interests. They need Russia, China, and the rest of the global powers, big and small, to fill their 4,500 ships with cargo!! If they only depend on the West exclusively, they will be out of business fairly quickly.
So the shipowners/media moguls (Alafouzos, Marinakis, Melissanidis, etc) represent the collective interests of all shipowners. The case of the Martinos brothers is indicative of this argument: Thanassis Martinos (the former Civil Director of Mt.Athos) and his brothers own about 290 ships, mostly oil tankers. At the beginning of the Ukrainian War, they did not hesitate one minute to do business with the Russians, understandably so. Without the Russian oil they are out of business. Similarly, Marinakis and others were doing business with Iran at the height of the embargo… Greeks have dealt with embargo situations for centuries – the first time in modern history was in 1807 when they broke the British blockade on Napoleon in Marseilles and made their weight in gold!! This is how the Greek Revolution was financed!!
Do you know that Greece is still today the only country that gets Iranian oil with “net 90” terms? Why do you think this is? because of the special relationship of the shipowners with the Iranians. This proved to be a tremendous help during the recent financial crisis.
Mitsotakis does not stand a chance to survive when all these opposing interests are against him: The patriots see him ready to sell out half the Greek rights in the Aegean, the traditionalist Orthodox hate him because of the same-sex marriage bill, the political class will never forgive his wiretapping using Israeli software and Mossad agents, and the shipowners will not lose their business so Mitsotakis’ Globalist puppet masters have their way against Russia…
Mitsotakis is doomed. Hopefully, he will not be able to sell out Greece before he is kicked out of power.

How did night visitors (To Vangelis Marinakis) Bratakos – Papastavrou find themselves outside of Maximos
Clouds in the prime minister’s relations with Mr. Bratakos had begun to be observed for some time
Kyriakos Mitsotakis gave a message inside and outside the government for those who give public opinion an image of negotiation with economic interests, removing from the Maximos Mansion Giannis Bratakos and Stavros Papastavros, who visited the home of a businessman in Palaio Psychiko on Sunday night.
The prime minister showed without delay the exit door to his two previously close associates, the day after their meeting with the businesswoman and a few hours before his speech in Parliament with which he closed the three-day debate on the motion of no-confidence. With this move, Mr. Mitsotakis made it clear that he wants to clearly distance himself from the behavior of the two of them, while at the same time he did not hide his annoyance about their stance during his speech in Parliament.
“We have lived in our country in times of intertwining, we have experienced pimp relationships. They are images of an old Greece. He is in a country that has known a lot. He does not forget either Vatoppaidi or his descendants. So this is the Greece we want to change,” he said, essentially photographing Mr. Bratakos and Mr. Papastavrou as expressors of a different perception of politics.
However, government sources also exposed the two ministers, acknowledging the negative image caused to public opinion by the revelation of their night visit. “Their participation in a social meeting sent the wrong message,” government sources told parliamentary reporters yesterday shortly before Mitsotakis took the floor of the plenary. Also, the simple official announcement of the Prime Minister’s Press Office about their resignation and the fact that no mention was made of the work of the two former ministers was indicative of the prevailing climate.
Information from the Maximos Mansion says, however, that clouds in the Prime Minister’s relations with Mr. Bratakos had begun to be observed for some time as there were strong complaints about a series of his manipulations.
This picture is also confirmed by the fact that Mr. Mitsotakis removed in early January from Mr. Bratakos the responsibility for state media and assigned it to government spokesman Pavlos Marinakis, who is considered a person of his absolute trust and it is not excluded that he will be further upgraded after the removal of the deputy minister to the prime minister.
It is worth noting that Mr. Marinakis also confirmed the evening visit of Bratakos – Papastavrou to Palaio Psychiko, referring to a “friendly meeting”. A phrase that shows that with their attitude they went beyond their institutional role.

Μήνυμα εντός και εκτός της κυβέρνησης για όσους δίνουν στην κοινή γνώμη εικόνα διαπραγμάτευσης με οικονομικά συμφέροντα έδωσε ο Κυριάκος Μητσοτάκης απομακρύνοντας από το Μέγαρο Μαξίμου τους Γιάννη Μπρατάκο και Σταύρο Παπασταύρο οι οποίοι επισκέφθηκαν τη νύχτα της Κυριακής το σπίτι επιχειρηματία στο Παλαιό Ψυχικό.
Ο πρωθυπουργός έδειξε χωρίς χρονοτριβή την πόρτα της εξόδου στους δύο μέχρι πρότινος στενούς συνεργάτες του, την επαύριο του ραντεβού τους με την επιχειρηματία και λίγες ώρες προ της ομιλίας του στη Βουλή με την οποία έκλεισε την τριήμερη συζήτηση για την πρόταση δυσπιστίας. Με την κίνηση αυτή ο κ. Μητσοτάκης κατέστησε σαφές ότι επιθυμεί να πάρει σαφείς αποστάσεις από τη συμπεριφορά των δύο τους ενώ παράλληλα δεν έκρυψε και την ενόχλησή του για τη στάση τους κατά την ομιλία του στη Βουλή.

«Έχουμε ζήσει στην πατρίδα μας εποχές διαπλεκόμενων, έχουμε ζήσει σχέσεις νταβατζήδων. Είναι εικόνες μιας παλιάς Ελλάδος. Είναι σε μια χώρα που έχει γνωρίσει πολλά. Δεν ξεχνά ούτε το Βατοπαίδι ούτε τους απογόνους του. Αυτή λοιπόν είναι η Ελλάδα την οποία θέλουμε να αλλάξουμε» δήλωσε χαρακτηριστικά φωτογραφίζοντας ουσιαστικά τον κ. Μπρατάκο και τον κ. Παπασταύρου ως εκφραστές μιας διαφορετικής αντίληψης για την πολιτική.
Τους δύο υπουργούς άδειασαν, όμως, και κυβερνητικές πηγές αναγνωρίζοντας την αρνητική εικόνα που προκάλεσε στην κοινή γνώμη η αποκάλυψη της νυχτερινής επίσκεψής τους. «Η συμμετοχή τους σε μια κοινωνική συνάντηση έστειλε το λάθος μήνυμα» ανέφεραν χαρακτηριστικά χθες κυβερνητικές πηγές στους κοινοβουλευτικούς συντάκτες λίγο πριν ανέβει στο βήμα της Ολομέλειας ο κ. Μητσοτάκης. Επίσης, η λιτή επίσημη ανακοίνωση το Γραφείου Τύπου του Πρωθυπουργού για την παραίτησή τους και το γεγονός ότι δεν έγινε η παραμικρή αναφορά στο έργο των δύο πρώην υπουργών ήταν δηλωτική του κλίματος που επικράτησε.
Είχε ραγίσει εδώ και καιρό το γυαλί με τον Μπρατάκο
Πληροφορίες από το Μέγαρο Μαξίμου αναφέρουν, πάντως, ότι σύννεφα στις σχέσεις του πρωθυπουργού με το κ. Μπρατάκο είχαν αρχίσει να παρατηρούνται εδώ και καιρό καθώς υπήρχαν έντονα παράπονα για σειρά χειρισμών του.
Αυτή η εικόνα επιβεβαιώνεται και από το γεγονός ότι ο κ. Μητσοτάκης αφαίρεσε στις αρχές Ιανουαρίου από τον κ. Μπρατάκο την αρμοδιότητα για τα κρατικά ΜΜΕ και την ανέθεσε στο κυβερνητικό εκπρόσωπο Παύλο Μαρινάκη ο οποίος θεωρείται πρόσωπο της απόλυτης εμπιστοσύνης του και δεν αποκλείεται να αναβαθμιστεί περαιτέρω μετά την απομάκρυνση του υφυπουργού παρά τω πρωθυπουργώ.
Αξίζει δε να σημειωθεί ότι ο κ. Μαρινάκης είναι και το πρόσωπο που επιβεβαίωσε τη βραδινή επίσκεψη Μπρατάκου – Παπασταύρου στο Παλαιό Ψυχικό κάνοντας λόγο για «φιλική συνάντηση». Μια φράση που δείχνει ότι με τη στάση τους υπερέβησαν τον θεσμικό ρόλο τους.
