EDITOR’S NOTE: The Cretan custom was followed before Mikis was buried in his family’s village of origins, Galatas, at Hania, Crete. For a few minutes, before his casket was to be lowered in the grave, a small orchestra and his friends and family sang the last goodbye with his songs… A very moving scene, and probably uniquely Greek, dating back to the times of Homer… I doubt there is any Greek who sang Mikis’ songs and can watch this video with dry eyes…
