The Primate of the Church of Greece has an obligation to make a social and political intervention

On the major issue of the recognition of same-sex marriage, which immediately results in the adoption of children and, in a reasonable time, the “use” of a surrogate mother, the attitude of Archbishop Hieronymos is inexplicable.

Orthodoxy is not some vague theoretical philosophy that only addresses people’s metaphysical concerns. Orthodoxy is a revolution. It was a real revolution that changed humanity, as it transmitted Hellenism’s eternal humanitarian principles and values to a large part of the world, which until then was immersed in barbarism.

If, subsequently, the sects that became powerful abused the teaching of Christ and used Christianity to commit unspeakable atrocities, this is another proof of the moral superiority of Orthodoxy and its contribution to the “humanization of humanity.” After all, Orthodoxy and the Orthodox were the first targets of heretic sects long before the advance of Islam.

The Evangelist Luke’s account of Christ’s attitude towards children and women shows that Orthodoxy is a fully applicable, ideal social system that ensures social justice, equality, cooperation, and above all, humanity.

So, the saying that Orthodoxy and the church should not get involved in social and political issues is absolutely wrong.

If Orthodoxy had not been involved in political and social matters, then even today, the woman and the child would be considered objects, the rich and the powerful would be oppressing the poor and the powerless with impunity, the concept of justice would be similar rather to Sharia Law and not to the revolutionary teachings of Christ that came as a steel shield over the powerless, to protect them from the sword of the powerful.

Today, a beastly power system wishes to drag society back to the Middle Ages, even projecting this historical regression as progress!

Mitsotakis attempts to make the woman and the child “objects” again.

The child is something like a stuffed animal to satisfy the vanity – at best – of some rich people who willfully gave up the possibility of becoming parents.

The woman is a breeding vessel, where, again, some rich people will take advantage of poor girls, as if they are a jukebox, where they will drop a coin to get the product of their liking.

Therefore, AB Ieronymos’s attitude, involving secret meetings with the prime minister, the unthinkable reference to a referendum, and the prolonged silence, causes enormous concern for the motives of the Archbishop.

After all, if Ieronymos wanted to hold a referendum, he could have organized it, just as AB Christodoulos of blessed memory had done.

On the contrary, the Archbishop has an obligation to make a social and political intervention in order to overthrow this medieval type of legal concoction. This is exactly what the Orthodox faith and Christ himself, with his life and sacrifice, demand.

So, Christ did not make secret appointments with the scribes and the Pharisees. He did not negotiate secretly with the merchants in the temple. He wasn’t sitting in a cave to ventilate. Instead, he went out into society. He came out as a light in the darkness that dominated the non-Greek world.

He fought, he clashed, he didn’t back down, he didn’t “bargain” even for his own life. He sacrificed himself!

This is exactly what the Cross symbolizes. The sacrifice. The sacrifice for the whole, for society, for women, children, the weak. Sacrifice for justice and righteousness are concepts mentioned 165 times in the New Testament. The conflict with the unjust, the powerful who use their power to impose themselves, to exploit, to torture the weak.

Whoever is frightened by the concept of sacrifice, whoever is frightened by the concept of struggle, whoever is frightened by the concept of resistance, whoever is frightened by martyrdom for his fellow man, may well embrace Islam. So that he, too, can abuse women, children, and non-religious people without being disturbed. And worship the mighty!

Archbishop Ieronymos does precisely the opposite.

The reasons for his attitude are definitely neither “Christian” nor “innocent”.

  2. Orthodoxy is not a revolution, it’s a way of life. Orthodoxy shows no compassion, and has no mercy. Orthodoxy is barbaric and cruel, judgmental and hypocritical, especially when written by anonymous authors who aren’t proud enough to identify themselves as an Orthodox by sharing their name. Why coward in fear if you are ashamed of being the revolutionist Orthodox Christian?

    • I can find an excellent reason for a hypocrite like you – who criticizes others for anonymity while hiding yourself behind anonymity!!! UNBELIEVABLE HYPOCRISY!! But at a time that the “democratic” Zelensky state is prosecuting Orthodoxy and at the time that the whole west has declared war not simply on Putin and Russia but on Orthodoxy because they will not accept their degenerate homosexual values, he has established DE FACTO why Orthodoxy is revolution and why he can remain anonymous. You on the other side are a coward and a troll…
