EDITOR’S NOTE (Nick Stamatakis).  There is no bigger sin in Orthodoxy, in Christianity in general, and in other religions, including our ancestors’ in ancient Greece, than arrogance, whose ancient Greek version of “hubris” where meant “emulation of divinity or transgression against a god.”  Bartholomew is the perfect picture of hubris sitting next to his statue (!!!) in Australia, pretending that his minuscule and pitiful existence is somehow important and worthy to be commemorated for eternity… As a measure of how detached from reality the Phanar hierarchy is, AB Makarios praised the statue as creating a sense “of simplicity and humility”!! Unbelievable!!

God save humanity from this heretic Patriarch! His hands are filled with blood after what he “achieved” in Ukraine… Even worse, because he has not repented for his deadly mistakes and when he met the new Cardinal Mykola Bychok of the Uniates of Ukraine (UGCC – “Greek Catholics”) in Sydney, the day after Pope Francis proclaimed him a Cardinal, Bartholomew shouted: “Glory To Ukraine!!” (link here for the disgusting news).

Unveiling the statue of Patriarch Bartholomew in the “heart” of the First Episcopate of Chora

A work of sculpture, which will recall memories of the Apostolic visit to Australia of His Holiness the Ecumenical Patriarch, Mr. Bartholomew – the simple, approachable and approachable Patriarch – will henceforth reign in the “heart” of the Holy Episcopate of Chora, in the premises of the Holy Monastery of Panagia “Axion Esti” in Northcote, Melbourne.

The reasoning behind the creation of this humble Hadrian was clearly described by the Most Reverend Archbishop of Australia, Mr. Makarios, during the modest ceremony of unveiling the project, which took place on Tuesday, October 15, in the presence of His Holiness Mr. Bartholomew.

As the Archbishop explained, the memories of the historic Patriarchal visit “we wanted to have a fixed point of reference, a point that will testify to those present and those to come, that the Patriarch of the Genus passed through our places and blessed the people of the Archdiocese us. […] Because we think that art has a special power: to go beyond what is heard and seen, to speak to us even when the words stop sounding, to activate the eyes of our soul for what the eyes of the body have difficulty distinguishing, for that’s why, trusting in this very revelatory power of art, we decided to dedicate to the blessed visit of our Patriarch a work of sculpture, which we expect to make him eternally and experientially present among us”.

In the statue, the Ecumenical Patriarch is shown seated, in an unassuming posture, with his hands gently resting on his knees, holding a book, on which is written, in Greek and English: “The Constitution of the Church”. His face radiates peace and tranquility. The posture of the body exudes an effortless intimacy, while the general expression makes him approachable, as if inviting passers-by to stop for a while, sit and rest next to him.

“The overall image of the statue I daresay creates a sense of simplicity and humility, characteristics which, by common confession, adorn the personality of our Ecumenical Patriarch and are those which make him so accessible and so dear to his spiritual children and to those around the world they are lucky enough to get to know him up close”, noted Archbishop Makarios, describing the project.

“This simple, approachable and loving Patriarch, as we live him even these days here in Australia,” he pointed out with emphasis, “he is the one we want to keep in our memory and introduce to the younger and distant generations. And not by chance, this statue that captures the sacred form of our Patriarch is, I would say, so human – it is not placed on a pedestal, you don’t need to raise your head to see it. The Patriarch is among us and that is why his statue will reign in the “heart” of the Cultural Center of the Diocese of Chora, in a place that we envision to be the center of the social and cultural life of our Homogeneity, especially of our youth, in the near and future in the distant future”.

Concluding, His Eminence expressed his warm thanks to Mr. Sam Jinks, creator of the statue, while addressing the Ecumenical Patriarch, he emphasized with great emotion: “As you realize, Your Holiness, we need your presence constantly and uninterruptedly, we need that feeling of warmth and the affection you exude. We need to feel you close to us, but above all to ensure that this same feeling will touch the hearts of our children and all future generations. We hope that this humble work will also serve this sacred expectation, so that our young people will be inspired by your holy face, so that they can cope in the best possible way with the challenges that our local Church will face in the future”.

The unveiling ceremony, in addition to the “host” Theophilestatus Bishop of Chora, Mr. Eumenios, was attended by members of the Patriarchal entourage: the Most Reverend Metropolitans of Imbros and Tenedos, Mr. Kyrillos and of Thessaloniki, Mr. Filotheos, the Panosiols. Grand Protosygello Mr. Grigorios, and Grand Ecclesiarch Mr. Aetios, Director of the Special Patriarchal Office, Hierol. Patriarchal Deacon Mr. Evlogios, Codifier of the Holy and Holy Synod, the Osiot. Nun Iacovi, Abbess of the Holy Hermitage of the Holy Forerunner of Akritochorio, the Antimol. Archon Master of the Genus Mr. Konstantinos Delikostanis, Director of the First Patriarchal Office, and Archon Master of the Church Mr. Theodoros Yagou, Professor of the Theological School of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, the Rev. Mr. Nikolaos – George Papachristou, Director of the Patriarchal Press and Communication Office, Mr. Themistoklis Karanikolas, from the staff of the Patriarchate, as well as the Catholic Patriarch.
