EDITOR’S NOTE (Nick Stamatakis) Sam Chekwas is more Greek than Nigerian, it seems, and has proved it for decades… He currently operates the only bookstore (and publishing house) in America selling Greek or English books on Greece and Hellenism (seaburn books – link here). Please follow the link and take a look – he recently imported the “History of Modern Greece” written by Kapodistrias!! Along with Elytis, children’s books and all else…

Tomorrow between 6-8.00 pm, Sam will return to his African Roots and present a famous author, Dr. Molefi Kete Asante (bio here), at Guggin Cafe , 240-05 Linden Blvd in Elmont, NY (near the border of Queens with Long Island – rsvp 929-620-3108).  Let’s support Sam!!

  1. I remember I had seen him in AStoria about 20 years ago. I’m glad to see he’s still around and loving Greece as ever. Yiannis Antetokoumbo and Mr Chekwa are the phillhelenes of old. Even though Yannis was actually born in Greece. We all know Greeks can be prejudiced and I’m sure they have tasted that prejudice themselves. Yanni wrote about it and was in his documentary. They didnt feel Greek. Of course, its not only Greeks that are slow to accept people of color as real Greeks. Swedish people can noir fathom a black Swedish person.

Which is even more amazing that those two love Greece even as they dont live there any longer. Let’s be honest though. Greece needs young people. Hundreds of thousands, probably millions of Nigerians would be willing to migrate. How would we feel if Greece looks more Nigerian than our idea of Greece??

Let us know your thoughts on that.

    • The Greek government does everything possible to delay the naturalisation of our children, the children of the Diaspora Greeks… Following your train of thought I have to assume that they discriminate against us, the Greeks living abroad. Otherwise why fo they instantly give residency or citizenship to Africans and Asians while it takes a ton of time and money for Greek-Americans and Greek-Australians? In order to evaluate “racism” you have to refer to practical ways of this affecting people’s lives… in today’s world globalism has to be recognised as the driving force behind such phenomena

      • I haven’t had any experience with naturalization of children born abroad of Greeks, but, it would be stupid if they make it difficult. As far as I know, Africans born in Greece are not able to get citizenship. Yanni Antetokoumbo only became citizen when he was leaving for America to join the NBA. Greece and most of Europe do not have the birthright citizenship that America and other immigrant countries have. And Trump wants to take away

      • I agree with you Nick. Mitsotakis stated in the Greek parliament a few years ago ,that he will vaccinate the Greeks , will make them multicultural and that he will oppose nativism. He is a globalist who imposed wokism in Greece and promotes his cronies and oligarchs at the expense of the Greek citizens
