It was in Kiev that in 988 AD, Byzantine Princess Anna Porphyrogenita married Prince Vladimir of the Rus and converted the Russians to Orthodoxy… When will Bartholomew come to terms with the historical truth and the practical realities of today?

Patriarch Bartholomew: We won’t revoke the Tomos, the OCU and UOC must unite
According to Patriarch Bartholomew, the process of recognition of a united Church may take decades.
In an interview with French television, Patriarch Bartholomew of Constantinople stated that he would not revoke the Tomos of the OCU, despite the fact that it has not brought about the desired unity of the Orthodox.
Answering the question of why the decision was made to grant the Tomos to the OCU, the Patriarch said he was guided by two motives. First, because “the Ukrainian Church has the right to obtain independence,” and second, because the Phanar had received “numerous appeals,” not only in recent years but also “much earlier, in the 1920s and even before that.”
“Our goal is to unite all the Orthodox Churches of Ukraine, both Metropolitan Onuphry and Metropolitan Epiphany, so that they may be united in theory and in practice, become one local Church, and be recognized by the other sister Orthodox Churches,” Patriarch Bartholomew declared.
In his view, this “will happen sooner or later,” but “one should not expect it to occur in a single day.” The head of the Phanar believes that the unification of the UOC and OCU, and their recognition by the Local Churches, “will take place in the coming years or decades.”
“The Ecumenical Patriarchate has no intention of revoking its decision to grant autocephaly to Ukraine. I want to be clear on this matter,” Patriarch Bartholomew concluded.
Earlier, the UOJ reported that a hierarch of the UOC had called on Patriarch Bartholomew to suspend the Tomos due to the violent seizures of UOC churches by supporters of the OCU.
The Schism with Moscow will not end until the Tomos is revoked.
If we are blessed enough to get a few more good scandals revealed in the media, such that multiple bishops in the Constantinopolitan circles have to resign, there may be a chance at a more sensible Patriarch emerging one day that will undo the damage that Bartholomew has caused…
At this point it honestly doesn’t even matter if he revokes the Tomos or not. The military and political realities on the ground will dictate how this goes in the near future much like it’s already dictating the “peace talks” Russia is going to call the shots.
Not only that but the OCU is very rapidly merging with the UGCC so it will either go defunct over the next years due to lack of membership (look how empty their “churches” are), or, it will meld with the UGCC.
Either way, no other local Church will accept them and the UOC will not merge with them.
The OCU & Bartholomew are destined for the same fate: To go the way of the Dodo. The West will drop Bartholomew like a sack of potatoes as soon as he becomes useless.
As much as we Orthodox do and should revere the Ecumenical Patriarchate as an office, maybe it needs to be surprised for a while if not outright dissolved. Since the time of Metixakes it has led to nothing but disaster for Orthodoxy
What a joke! Bartholomews talk of unity is just empty words while churches burn. History is on the side of the UOC, and he knows it. This delay is purely political.

One thinks of the confusion that Bartholomew has caused young seekers by inflating the claim of authority vested in the so-called “Ecumenical Patriarchate” and promoting heresy, schism, and hiding shady finances. Many young Christians have been scandalized by the secular radicalization of mainline Protestant theology or the infestation of the Roman Catholic clergy by incontinent homosexuals and predators. They are looking for the real Church of Jesus Christ where they can find safe harbor, but Eastern Pope wannabe, Bartholomew, has been nothing but a stumbling block to those who seek the Church via the Greek ethnos.
Regrettably, the disturbing fact, that St. Sophia the historical landmark of spiritual Orthodoxy, now a mosque, under the watch of CEO Bartholomew, and his US Associate, Elpidolphoros ,who are both Turkish Citizens and have served in the Turkish Army are pawns of Erdogan’s Propoganda International Policy to empower Turkey’s best interests-this anomaly needs to be exposed to all 300 million Orthodox Faithful ASAP!
When are the Greek/American Orthodox Archons, when are they going to wake-up and stop funding with millions of dollars to the Patriarchio which is a captive subject -a slave institution to Turkish Power?? When are they going to wake-up and stop shooting themselves in the foot??
It has come to the point where I can no longer even look at his face.
I was always taught that the number one, the most important qualification to be a bishop of the Orthodox Church is to have humility. In this interview Patriarch Bartholomew exhibits stubbornness doubling down, refusal to back off, no sense of reconciliation, no hint of the possibility of compromise. All these reactions display pride not humility.
We remember St. Nicholas, one of the greatest Orthodox bishops with this troparion:
The truth of things hath revealed thee
to thy flock as a rule of faith,
an icon of meekness,
and a teacher of temperance;
for this cause thou hast achieved the heights by humility,
riches by poverty,
O Father and Hierarch Nicholas,
intercede with Christ God
that our souls be saved.
With what words will Patriarch Bartholomew be remembered?
OCU and UOC will NEVER be able to unite. What would the future of the OC in Ukraine would look like if they would unite? Singing and dancing at Lavra, like OCU did last Christmas? No, it can never happen! That would be the end of the OC as we know it. I would never dare to sing and dance like this, with icons around me. THese people have no shame! No reverance! They call it the “Christmas… new calendar… new style”. Is this how the new Easter date celebration, that Barto is talking about, will be celebrated? This is how the fake church of barto, OCU, celebrates Christmas. What a mockery! What a disgrace! What a shame! God bless UOC it this time of trials.

Patriarch Bartholomew must either be deposed or the Patriarchate will have to be abolished. The Church preceded the Patriarchate by three hundred and fifty years. The Church established it and the universal Church can abolish it.
A council should be held to take action. At a minimum, Jerusalem should convene another gathering like Amman five years ago and give it a go. Maybe they can get more Churches to show up this time and see what happens.
