OUR MAIN IMAGE: Helleniscope awards Lou Katsos with the “Golden Moutza”, famously used by our compatriot journalist John Kass of Chicago (An artistic rendition)

What Katsos has created at Bowling Green, a historic NYC landmark, is not a “legacy” — it is a monument to vanity, arrogance, and shameless self-promotion. And the longer those plaques remain there, the greater the embarrassment and humiliation for the entire Greek-American community. He desrves the Golden Moutza!!

By Nick Stamatakis

After being publicly dismantled by Helleniscope — and privately condemned by many others — over the installation of the two massive plaques on the flagpoles at Bowling Green, Katsos is now desperately trying to rewrite the narrative to justify his outrageous act: INAPPROPRIATELY ALTERING ONE OF THE MOST HISTORIC SITES IN NEW YORK CITY.

I was truly hoping that the initial removal of the disgraceful plaques from Bowling Green would become permanent – But NO!! Katsos thinks that we are all stupid and that he can “narrate” his way out of this – very much like the other New York narcissist, Donald Trump, thinks that he can manipulate everyone, just by being louder in front of the cameras… So Katsos made up a video to tell his “tale”….

As I started listening to this video, I genuinely felt nauseated within the first few minutes.

In the process, he only digs himself into a deeper hole through blatant misrepresentation and self-serving lies.

  • “Arthur Piccolo proposed it to me.”
NO — IT WAS YOUR STUPID IDEA FROM THE START.
  • Arthur Piccolo wrote the text. NO, it was you who wrote it, and you were telling people about it for weeks!!
  • “I did it to honor those who initiated the second pole in 1996.”
NO — YOUR REAL OBJECTIVE WAS TO CREATE A MONUMENT TO YOURSELF AND YOUR BUSINESS PARTNER, JOHN CATSIMATIDIS.
  • If this were truly about honoring others, their names would have been prominently recognized. Instead, the plaques scream only two names in bold letters: YOUR DISGRACEFUL NAME AND THAT OF JOHN CATSIMATIDIS.
  • Did you even obtain a permit from the Parks Department? We are still waiting for an answer.

And we are still waiting for the Federation of Hellenic Societies of Greater New York to finally take action, contact the Parks Department, and demand the removal of these DISGUSTING plaques.

They have instantly become a symbol of shame for our community.

Does Katsos realize that the only reaction these plaques provoke in many people is to spit on them?

As for the rest of the video, after the opening minutes of pure nonsense, Katsos proceeds to narrate his “immigrant story” — a story shared by millions of immigrants who came to this country, worked hard, and built lives for themselves without endlessly glorifying their own importance.

Why does he believe he is God’s gift to New York?

The truth is far simpler: truly respected people do not need to carve their names into historic landmarks to manufacture a legacy. Their contributions speak for themselves. But he doesn’t have much to show…

What Katsos has created at Bowling Green is not a “legacy” — it is a monument to vanity, arrogance, and shameless self-promotion. And the longer those plaques remain there, the greater the embarrassment and humiliation for the entire Greek-American community.

  1. Lou Katsos is pathetic!

I got a lot on him, but have held back from speaking. Some are funny, like his gravitating toward photographers and photobombing his face into someone else’s picture so he can claim rub elbows with celebrities.

Another is when he gave a “keynote” speech at Queens College, with the slide on the screen referring to him as “Doctor.” All that, while he read notes from the internet or the encyclopedia.
    Nothing scholarly — ever!

Another was when he read my unpublished research about Nicholas Cassavetes, and presented it as his own. The National Herald congratulated him and posted the video of his reading my research on its website. (Yes, I have downloaded it and it’s not funny Lou.)

Yet another was when he published excerpts of my book in newspapers — complete pages, including my original art — without permission and without attribution. He blamed Eddie Argitakos for that, but as an Ahepa officer did not retract it! Ahepa’s chief Freemason, Basil Mossaidis, in turn said he is not responsible for wrongdoing committed by Ahepa’s chapters!

That’s their Greek honor — Katsos’ honor and the chubby Freemason’s personal honor. These guys tell us they are men, and Greek at that! They’re just flakes, spread so everyone can see them!

More recently, Katsos got his hands on an early, unedited draft of my manuscript. Again he copied it and posted it as his own. He was dumb enough to copy factual errors I made, and claimed them as his own also! Talk about tracing a copy to its original!

What do you do with this buffoon who thinks he is a Harvard man and pays to print his name in a Who’s Who publication?

One option is to ignore him and let him expose himself. Nobody takes him seriously. Even Ahepa quashed his dreams of becoming a supreme officer — for good reason!

Only the president of Ahepa’s Delphi chapter — a young kid who signs his name as “Esquire” — emulates Lou and reposts his plagiarism as if it is serious scholarship.

We can ignore these clowns or we can fight them. I’m ready for either option.

    • Leonidas,

Although I am fighting AHEPA trespassing and stealing money from our churches, I recognise that there are a few AHEPA members that have some dignity. I really don’t understand what these decent people are doing in there. I believe most of them will eventually “fall asleep”. But unfortunately that is not enough to save their souls…

They must realize that the only way to repentance and salvation is by denouncing AHEPA in public! And additionally to their own after death punishment, they should consider the punishment that their families suffer in this life because of their choices…

  2. Unfortunately the public display of arrogance through these plaques is definitely not only a huge turn-off for our Omogeneia, but also it diminishes all the good deeds you did for it my friends John and Lou. Just take them down.
