On July 17, 2026, Hollywood is releasing the film ’ The Odyssey ’ that mischaracterizes Ancient Greek history.
For 26 years, Hollywood has been producing woke films with an agenda. It got worse in the 2010s, when they started replacing male characters with female actors.
The woke agenda is when they make female characters stronger than males. The agenda is to have a Female James Bond character.
It gets worse when the actors of ‘The Odyssey’ start to trash our great Ancient Greek poet/author, Homer.
The film portrays Helen of Troy as African, not as a native Greek. Lupita Nyong’o admitted she never heard of Homer’s ‘The Odyssey’. Lupita is of African origin. Can you imagine the protests if Hollywood had a European German play the role of Malcolm X, who was of African origin?
Then, you have Odyssey Star, John Leguizamo, after playing a European Greek role, trash Europeans? By the way, the true Latins are Europeans, not American Indians who are Spanish speakers. If he hates Europe, then why is he playing as a European Greek?
I’m sure the film will have lots of woke content.
This is the same thing that Hollywood did to Oliver Stone’s 2004 film Alexander. Greeks protested and boycotted the film because it portrayed Alexander the Great as a madman homosexual. The film was a huge flop, and Oliver lost money. After 22 years, no one remembers Oliver Stone’s idiot movie on Alexander the Great.
Elon Musk wrote on X, trashing the bad ‘Odyssey’ film.
Greek newspapers are ripping the Nolan film because there are no Greek actors, even if they filmed parts of the movie in Greece. They fooled the Greek government.
Where is the Greek government to sue the film company for no Greek actors and mischaracterizing Ancient Greek history?
The same fate awaits Christoper Nolan’s woke film,‘The Odyssey’.
In recent years, Hollywood has produced terrible film flops. No one watches Hollywood trash woke films.
I urge a boycott of Christopher Nolan’s film The Odyssey on July 17. Don’t spend one cent to go to the movie theater or watch it on your TV. Do not spend money to watch this film.
Instead, I urge you to re-read Homer’s ‘The Odyssey’ in Greek or English to remember our great Ancient Greek author!

The propaganda, misdirection, and subliminal suggestions are overwhelming and will take over your children’s minds unless you take proactive steps against it. If you are not working against it as hard as it is working against you, it will undoubtedly change you and your children. Enroll your children in Orthodox Christian schools. If there is not one in your area, start one or consider homeschooling or micro-schooling. God give us strength.
1000% agree.
Well stated Chicopoulos , however , you might want to add the Christian Zionist ruling government of Donald Trump and Republican party which is so degenerate and spends billions of dollars to promote Propaganda , misdirection, and Subliminal suggesting overwhelming and have already taken over our children minds unless you take proactive steps against it …
Thanks Michael… It has become so obvious over the past couple of years what is really going on. Never fear, live Orthodoxy, and do not get despondent because, in the end, our Lord wins!
Hey Chico
You see all that grim future for us and out kids just by Aliferi’s opinion on the Odyssey? And your suggest to school our kids in Orthodox schools is laughable. St Demitrios in Astoria is in terminal decline. Holly Cross is on its death throes and graduates young people with useless degrees. And you expect anyone to start a Greek school? Or homeschool? Get a hold of yourself. The sky is not falling, no matter what Aliferis, like the boy who cried wolf is saying
Bob…I didn’t say Greek school, I said Orthodox School. These school are thriving. Look at the Constantine School in Houston TX, Chrysostom Academy in PA and several others…Orthodox Classical Education is working out wonderfully.
We are talking about the Odyssey, a pre-Christian poem that has nothing to do with Orthodoxy. Do you expect an Orthodox school to teach a poem about whom Zeus was cheating on Hera with?I have noticed that all you super Greeks are totally ignorant of what orthodoxy or Hellenism are all about
Hi Bob…Yes!!! Orthodox Christian Classical Schools teach the classics. There is nothing more classical than Homer. The secular world has created great literature. We want our children to be taught the wisdom of the Church and learn about the best of secular culture. Many Church Fathers supported this approach.
Elliott Page dared Matt Damon to whip it out and see whose was bigger. 🤣
Welcome to clown 🤡 world 🌎
I would also suggest that people read the Odyssey as Aliferis recommends, instead of seeing the film. Its only common sense. But, let’s not be naive. How many people would devote the time and put the effort to do that? Its easier said than done.
Aliferi’s essay is based on Breitbart’s interpretation. Aliferis wastes no time to accuse Nolan and Hollywood in general, of being “woke”. As if Breitbart is not woke of the right. He even suggests that Greece sues Nolan for not employing Greeks as actors. When a major film production comes to Greece, the government actually is the one who benefits, by the film’s expenditure and free advertisement of Greece. No government can dictate what the producer is going to film, which actors they want to cast and what the story is going to be. It’s art, created by an artist with a vision, whether Alex approves of it or not.
If you sue a film company for whom it casts, wave goodbye to any future film productions in Greece. Does Alex think that Greece is the only desirable country to film in? Most of the Odyssey was filmed in Italy. Greece was lucky to have some parts in it.
We wish that casting would have been as we wanted to. But it isn’t. Let’s be proud that the Odyssey will be seen by a new generation. Most younger people are beyond such details as who portrays Helen.
And that’s a good thing. Aliferis can call that woke all day long. What Aliferis needs is to wake up himself, stop reading Breitbart and go see the movie. Then he can criticizes it. By boycotting our history, is like cutting your nose to spite your face.
Helen of Troy was a beautiful white woman —
that negress is NOT🤮
Lefty idiot Christopher Nolan never read The Odyssey & injected in film, pc woke trash just to sensationalize it!
Chicopoulos is right again, and Karp , Zoey and George continues to be a “cesspool of delusional information.. as to the status of the current Sky!
AS for Chicopoulos . no doubt there should be Orthodox Schools or Bible Study for those who wish to attend, and why not Greek Schools as part of it
I am a 4th generation Greek American..who was mandated to go to Greek School after Grammer School! I hated it, because it interfered occassionally with my LL .Baseball games at 6 pm , however, in the end , my best Greek Friends , future Godparents of my children, and family relationships would be born! However, unbeknowst at the time, their were financial rewards in becomming proficient in Greek at my parish Greek School…
Most private universities in the United States continue to waive foreign‑language requirements if a student can demonstrate proficiency through standardized testing, prior instruction, or heritage‑speaker certification. The most common waiver mechanisms include: placement exams administered by the university, AP or IB language exam scores, SAT II language scores (where still accepted), or documented completion of secondary‑school instruction in another language. Many institutions also recognize proficiency gained through community organizations, religious schools, cultural institutions, or heritage‑language programs, provided the student can pass the university’s proficiency assessment. When granted, these waivers eliminate the need to enroll in 6–12 credits of language coursework.
Because the average cost per credit at private universities ranges from $1,500 to $1,650, a typical 6‑credit language requirement would cost $9,000–$9,900 in tuition alone. A waiver therefore represents a substantial financial benefit, allowing students to bypass thousands of dollars in required coursework while still satisfying degree requirements. In practice, language‑proficiency waivers remain one of the most effective and widely used cost‑saving mechanisms available to undergraduates in private higher education.
My recommendation is that Greek School of the Churches be not limited to just grammar school students , but high School and Adults Greek or non Greeks. And I can testify, that in fact ..I took a test by my uninversity , which even a first year Greek Student could pass, which I passed and was credited with 6 credit to my final degree! At that time my per credit cost was only about 60 dollars per credit .. Time have changed! So , Bob .. imagine that , going to Greek School could get you a “!0,000” dollar academic grant applied when you go to college ! And of course , Bob ..your Ahepa organizations ..should cough up …some money to fund both the Orthodox and Greek school …all in the name of promoting Greek Heritage and Culture … Chicopoulos.. not only do you know how the sky is falling , but more importantly how to fix it ! What do you think , y’all!
Michael. I see a few improvements on your posts. Your spelling is better, for which improvement you must thank me. And I see that this time you’re not blaming the zionists,Republican, democrats and whatever else you are obsessed with.
However after your long diatribe on what you did in Greek school, which did not adhere to the theme of this post, which is the learning of the classics, and Chico’s silly “solution” that the orthodox schools teach pre-Christian epics, and you, being delusional, agreed with it, is example enough of the ignorance of you super-Christians.
Hey Helleniscope , thank you for at my request to continue posting all comments by Bob Karp and Zoey Metaxas…both supporters and card carrying members of the Anti Christian Evangelical Protestant Christian and Jewish Zionist ruling parties of America , Greece, Cyprus , and EU/Nato ..led by self Proclaimed Super Christian and Jewish Zionist Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, Donald Trump , Mike Hucklebee, Ted Cruz , Lindsey Graham, Benjamin Netanyahue and Vladomyr Zelensky !
The common denominator of everything Bob Karp supports … is all these people have aided and abeted the persecution , arrest , torture, bombing, and ethnic and religious cleansing and banning of Russian and Greek Speaking Orthodox Christian Churches , Clergy, and faitfull of the Ukraine ,Gaza, lebanon, Palestine, Syria, and most of the Middle East and now Europe by the “Self proclaimed Jewish Zionist Regimes of Netanyahue, and Zelensky, which have led to the deaths and injuries of millions of Christians .. Period. ! Helleniscope .. you , Jane Markos, and many other Greek Orthodox on this venue.. should be offended that he demeans and racistly label .. Chicopoulos as “Chico” and me as some sort of inferior viewer, who are promoting the advancement of Orthodox and Greek Schools and providing factual family and financial benefits to justify their funding!
More importantly , what he is practicing is what Greek and America Media have been doing for years for the ruling political parties of america, which is to attack the character and competence of all rivals to their crimes to demean their legitimate arguments against all of the listed Bob Karp victims…Zionist , Democrats, Republicans , and whatever “I”, not Chicopoulos and most of the world are obsessed with!
So Helleniscope .. this is my response to your Bob Karp approved Post , and I assume Chicopoulos and others should have an opportunity to reply ..since he has made some very defaming and demeaning characterizations ..not the least being .. a derogatory negative twist about being a “Super Christian”
Michael. I wish I had all that power that you assign to me, that somehow I have victimized all those listed, emmenating from your low IQ mind.
And true to form, this time you went right back to the zionist, democrat, republican and all the other trash that your fevered imagination sees as enemies.
The main theme of this post, you skipped entirely, which is the Odyssey and the teaching of it in Orthodox schools, that Chico proposed and you, the dupe of the year, seconded, without seeing the contradiction of a religious Orthodox school, teaching about the Olympus gods’ sexual escapades with other gods. proves that my observation of super Christians, I should add super-Greeks. And just as ignorant on both
Hi Bob…just to be clear
Perhaps I am not explaining myself properly. When I say Orthodox Schools, I mean a full K-12 education. I’m not talking about a parish afternoon Greek school or Sunday school. A fully functioning Orthodox Christian Classical School, would teach math, history, humanities, etc…However, an Orthodox based school does not take God and the Church out of the equation. Like I said before, look at the Constantitine School in TX or the Chrysostom Academy in PA. I think you wouild want your child to have studied Shakespear, Homer, Plato, Dickens, etc…before graduating highschool.
Just a suggestion …
Re: Homer’s Odyssey
1 – First read Homer’s Odyssey in English
2 – Then, seek out experts on Homer’s work in Greece, Europe and the Americas.
(a) Who are the experts, where can they be contacted and what exactly makes these people experts?
(b) Remember the importance of context: Did Homer intend to write his work for the Ancient Greeks of his time thousands of years ago, or people living in our time?
2 – If possible with the help of a classics professor, compare the current version to different English translations over the decades and centuries that Homer’s work has been in circulation.
3 – If you can invest the time, notice over the years, what information has been omitted or added.
(a) Where can you locate the oldest version of Homer’s Odyssey in the Ancient Greek Language?
After days, weeks and months of research, then you might have a basic understanding of Homer’s Odyssey.
⚠️ Be mindful of the dangers of solely relying on Hollywood films or documentaries for educational purposes.
