EDITOR’S NOTE (Nick Stamatakis): Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu received a striking reception at the United Nations General Assembly on September 24, as dozens of diplomats rose from their seats and walked out while he took the podium.
The dramatic exodus left much of the General Assembly hall visibly empty and underscored the deep international divisions surrounding Israel’s conduct in Gaza and the wider Middle East. Netanyahu, rather than ignoring the protest, addressed it directly, denouncing the departing delegates as “moral cowards” before proceeding with a forceful defense of Israel’s military actions. Like the thug that he has proven to be, he also showed the weaponized beepers that Israel used against Hezbollah, which will likely cost Israel its very existence… You sow death, you will receive endless killings in exchange.
