A swimmer in Rhodes was faced with an incredible sight when he spotted a…mine!

The incident unfolded in the Soroni region, when Giorgos Karamolegos, a winter swimmer, saw, as he says, “something shining in the water”. “When I saw it, it was very shiny from a distance, it looked like something precious. He was on the ground, the wave passing over him. I caught it in my hands just out of curiosity,” he explained and continued: “I didn’t understand what it was, it was very shiny. I’ve never seen anything like this before. I imagine what I could suffer.”

Afterwards, he took it ashore and informed the Coast Guard. “The Coast Guard told me to stay at a distance, to go away. And the Coast Guard itself didn’t know what it was,” he described.

In the end, it turned out to be a mine that reached the Mediterranean from Ukraine, after an explosion at a dam in the country. Therefore, experts are sounding the alarm, as it is possible that other similar finds may have traveled to Mesogeia.

Αντιμέτωπος με ένα απίστευτο θέαμα βρέθηκε ένας κολυμβητής στη Ρόδο, όταν εντόπισε μία…νάρκη!

Το συμβάν εκτυλίχθηκε στην περιοχή Σορωνή, όταν ο Γιώργος Καραμολέγκος, χειμερινός κολυμβητής, είδε, όπως λέει «κάτι να γυαλίζει στο νερό». «Όταν το είδα, γυάλιζε πάρα πολύ από μακριά, φαινόνταν σαν κάτι πολύτιμο. Ήταν πάνω στο χώμα, περνούσε από πάνω το κύμα. Το έπιασα στα χέρια μου από περιέργεια και μόνο», εξήγησε και συνέχισε: «Δεν κατάλαβα τι ήταν, γυάλιζε πολύ. Δεν έχω ξαναδεί τέτοιο πράγμα. Φαντάζομαι τι θα μπορούσα να πάθω».

Στην συνέχεια, ο ίδιος το έβγαλε στη στεριά και ενημέρωσε σχετικά το Λιμενικό Σώμα. «Το Λιμενικό μού είπε να είμαι σε απόσταση, να φύγω μακριά. Και το ίδιο το Λιμενικό δεν γνώριζε τι ήταν», περιέγραψε.

Τελικά, αποδείχθηκε πως πρόκειται για νάρκη που έφτασε στη Μεσόγειο από την Ουκρανία, μετά από έκρηξη σε φράγμα της χώρας. Ως εκ τούτου, ειδικοί κρούουν τον κώδωνα του κινδύνου, καθώς δεν αποκλείεται να έχουν ταξιδέψει στη Μεσόγεια κι άλλα παρόμοια ευρήματα.
