A former business associate of Hunter Biden, Jason Galanis, had his prison sentence for a 2017 securities fraud conviction commuted by President Donald Trump. Galanis was serving time under a 14-year sentence for a fraudulent scheme that involved tens of millions of dollars in property from the Oglala Sioux Nation and other investors were duped into issuing bogus tribal bonds. About a year ago, Helleniscope had published his testimony from prison, when he verified all the illicit deals by Hunter Biden (link here).
Signed without public fanfare, a commutation resulted in Galanis’s immediate release and absolved him of any remaining fines, restitution, probation, or other conditions. This action is similar to one that President Trump took the previous week when he pardoned Devon Archer, another former associate of Hunter Biden, for the same scam. While in custody Galanis agreed to cooperate with the House Republicans on their impeachment inquiry into former President Joe Biden. He provided information about his business dealings with Hunter Biden and how Joe Biden was more engaged in his son’s commercial activities than publicly disclosed. YouTube
The White House did not provide a detailed explanation for the commutation. However, a Trump administration official noted that Galanis had served over eight years with good behavior and cooperated during the impeachment inquiry.
In a statement following his release, Galanis expressed gratitude to President Trump, stating that the President “understands the law better than any lawyer.”

These clemency actions have drawn attention due to Galanis, Archer, and Hunter Biden’s connections and roles in the impeachment proceedings against Joe Biden.
