Patriarch Bartholomew’s latest visit to the United States confirms what we at Helleniscope have long asserted: there is nothing pastoral or Orthodox in his actions – just a series of self-congratulatory photo-ops, recycled rhetoric, and a blatant pursuit of money over Christ. Look at Karloutsos’ invitations to the so-called “Archons” (a title only meaningful in quotes – BECAUSE REAL “ARCHONS OF ORTHODOXY AND HELLENISM” ARE THOSE WHO STAND ON PRINCIPLE), where private events come with a price. Are these the actions of shepherds—or lobbyists? Are these the fruits of the Gospel—or profiteers presiding over Orthodoxy’s demise?

Why, we must ask, is his US itinerary published in Greek? Isn’t this America? Who is the audience here—the faithful in the pews, or a tiny clique in the Phanar’s echo chamber? Where are the parishes? Why are the people who support the Church invisible?

Based on his 10-day schedule, direct engagement with the faithful is almost non-existent—private dinners and meetings with the powerful are the focus. Only those who pay can see the “Green Patriarch”?

And why visit the Turkish Embassy in DC? Such visits never happened before his rise to the throne in 1991! Since then, he and his “Turkish Religious Institution” have acted as a branch of the Turkish Foreign Ministry, undermining Hellenism’s foundation—our Diaspora in America, Canada, Australia, and beyond.

And what of compassion? What of the Beatitudes? Poor Sophia Forchas, poor Charlie Kirk’s grieving family—do they hear words of consolation from the Patriarch? Or do they hear only slogans about the environment and disarmament? Why no mention of the assailants? Why is there no focus on the lost souls of our youth, abandoned in their hour of need?

This all comes just weeks after Bartholomew’s entanglement with the Mitsotakis Family mafia in Crete, where Bartholomew tried to push through their chosen candidate in Chania, against the Synod’s clear 8–0 vote and the will of the faithful. Since when does Orthodoxy bow to politicians instead of the Holy Spirit? Why are Synodical decisions thrown out by a corrupt hierarchy and even more corrupt political leadership?

Then there was his July 29, 2025, keynote at the World Council of Religions for Peace—a showcase of Masonic-style ecumenism, where Christ was never mentioned, and a vague “Common Sacred Worldview” was exalted. His failure to mention Christ—replacing Him with the “Luminous Void”—was blasphemous! This kind of syncretism strips Christianity of its uniqueness and risks turning the Church into a vehicle for globalist politics, not the Body of Christ.

Bartholomew will happily condemn guns, but never the murderers. He will rail about climate change, but never about the state of our souls. He will embrace the LGBTQx agenda not out of faith, but out of desperation to fill empty pews—pews that only grow emptier with his faithless actions. He will appear with heretical “theologians” at Fordham University, even bestowing part of his Templeton Prize on them—those plotting an LGBTQ ministry at St. Paraskevi Parish on Long Island. Is this the new “Orthodoxy”—or apostasy dressed up as progress?

The tragedy is this: if you ask 100 Greek Orthodox communicants in America to name their Patriarch, 70 will fail the test. How can a man be omnipresent in the media but absent in the lives of the faithful? How can he claim leadership when GOA membership has collapsed to just 125,000, down from nearly half a million two decades ago? What more evidence of failure do we need?

Even worse, America’s youth—thirsting for traditional faith—has abandoned Protestantism and Catholicism, seeking Orthodoxy for the Ancient Faith, only to find Bartholomew has abandoned Orthodoxy!!

But there are hopeful signs—some powerful parishes are starting to voice their concerns, and even the “Archons” are waking up.

This theater of the absurd must end. Finish the parade of empty gestures, the self-praise, and the political pandering.

Enough—leave America’s faithful in peace!

  • All joined Antioch, Moscow, and Bulgaria in refusing Kolymbari 2016 due to Bartholomew’s agenda-rigging.

  • Surprise commemorations of Epiphanios of Kiev by Theodoros, Chrysostomos, and Ieronymos—without synodal consent—led to open schisms within their own synods.

  • Repeated tolerance of clerical immorality, with promotions instead of sanctions.

• Funding and “baksheesh” culture:

  • Helleniscope has documented how monies channeled to the Phanar disappear into a Turkish-style patronage system.

• St. Nicholas Shrine fiasco:

  • Years of delays, opaque finances, and contradictions eroded trust. Despite official reassurances, the faithful remain unconvinced.

V. GOARCH and the American Front

• Elpidophoros’ Baptism of same-sex couples’ children in Greece (2022):

  • Caused uproar among Greek hierarchs and Athonite monks. Bartholomew’s refusal to discipline Elpidophoros amounts to endorsement.
