His appearance in Epstein-era records—and a pattern of troubling conduct—raise serious questions about whether the Greek-American community and the Parade Committee should cancel his selection as Grand Marshal of the Greek Independence Day Parade. (Link here for our previous article).

Although there is no evidence of wrongdoing by “Archon” John Catsimatidis in the Epstein matter, it is unmistakably clear—from his appearance in Epstein-related records and from the many powerful names surrounding Epstein—that America’s elite lives in a world of its own, largely unconcerned with appearances, accountability, or the laws that bind ordinary citizens.
The facts are straightforward. John Catsimatidis appears in what is commonly called Jeffrey Epstein’s “second little black book,” a 1990s contact directory published by Business Insider in 2021. It is not a flight log or a list of criminal associates.
Catsimatidis has stated publicly that he met Epstein once, through a real estate acquaintance, and that during that meeting he offered Epstein a ride to Florida on his own plane, as Catsimatidis was already traveling there. He has emphasized that there was no further relationship. There is no evidence that Catsimatidis traveled to Epstein’s private island or had any involvement in Epstein’s crimes.

That distinction matters. But stopping there misses the larger and more troubling point.
For Greek Americans—who place value on philotimo, restraint, and communal responsibility—the issue is not criminal guilt but character and culture. Epstein’s contact lists are crowded with billionaires, politicians, media figures, and institutional power brokers – many among them now verified pedophiles. These associations were not hidden. They were casual, normalized, and consequence-free.
This pattern mirrors long-standing concerns within the Greek-American community itself. As outlined in a recent Helleniscope article questioning Catsimatidis’s selection as Grand Marshal of the Greek Independence Day Parade, critics have raised serious issues about judgment, accountability, and behavior unbecoming of someone holding influence within the Archdiocese. Complaints ranged from the degradation of parade dignity through spectacle to the use of institutional power against critics to philanthropy perceived as self-promotional rather than principled.
None of this constitutes a crime. But it does point to something corrosive: an elite mindset that mistakes access for virtue and prominence for moral authority.
The Epstein scandal did more than expose a predator. It exposed a ruling class comfortable operating above scrutiny, confident that proximity to power absolves the need for restraint.
And so we return to the unavoidable conclusion: while there is no evidence of wrongdoing by Archon John Catsimatidis in the Epstein affair, the broader record makes one thing painfully clear: the American elite, including figures elevated within our own community, often lives by a different code, one where appearances, accountability, and even the law are treated as optional.

Shame on Lou Katsos choosing John Catsimatides as Grand Marshal of Parade instead of that director of Kapodistrias film. Didn’t Lou Katsos already offer it to him first? Or did his latest money deal with John Catsimatides trump any loyalty? Then again, maybe Lou’s afraid & aware what John Cats often says on air: that he sleeps with a gun under his pillow?!

How do we choose “leaders” in our community without scrutinizing their ethical conduct? Is the bar set so low that if our honored leaders are not convicted felons, they will shine?
Regrettably, Lou failed even this test in the past. The public record is clear that he has honored as men of the year first a convicted felon and then one that a court had recently determined to have committed wrongdoing involving moral turpitude. That’s not the kind of stuff we want Greek children to do when they grow up. I’m sure Lou likes to give them a second chance, which arguably is laudable.
That’s what happens when the proper nominating process is ignored, violated, or not followed. There were no public meetings and no deliberations at the Federation about the choice of Grand Marshals. A true leader should know that these processes are designed to spare us from embarrassment, from a modern Greek tragedy..
Instead, Lou listened to Cats and Elpi, and then saluted. As they say in the hood, one hand washes the other, and both wash the face. Good going!
Good thing he’s got that jacket with the nifty churchy patch, huh?!
Hope he remembers to wear it if he’s called to testify before Congress.
And/or standing in front of the throne of God. Whichever comes first! Now there’s a prediction, and his little friend under pillow won’t help him.
Despicable freaks!
The more someone digs into the bureaucracy that is the archdiocese, the more stink emanates from that open sewer.
The title archon is given to whoever donates as much money as possible, or has some type of connection that might be useful for the arch-priests . Tens of millions of dollars are spent to promote Elpidoforo’s hopes for the patriiarchate, so he can satisfy his devotion–not to doing Christ’s work of justice, mercy and faith– to worldly power.
Power corrupts. That’s why Jesus was against the power of the scribes and pharisees of his time. The archpriest themselves crucified him. If Christ came down today and took a look at organized religion, the current archpriests of the archdiocese would crucify him again.
We have to stop calling them “father”, Eminence or Grace. Christ told us not to call anyone “father”. Mat 23;19. Do not show respect to anyone because of his rassa. Only if they deserve respect. In Greece we have a saying. :Thew rassa do not a priest make.
Lou Katsos is a Judas Betrayer. And btw: It was the head Jew, Joseph Caiaphas of the Sanhedrin who conspired to have Jesus executed & this collective monumental sin of the Jews denying Jesus for 2,000 years is why they’re so maligned.
