EDITOR’S NOTE (Nick Stamatakis).  Ha.. ha…ha… Nothing is more fun than watching “mega-woke” Elpidophoros chasing Kimbrerly Guilfoyle, the nominee for U.S. Ambassador to Greece…  “He congratulated her”,  “He extended warm holiday wishes”,  “he invited her to visit GOARCH”…. etc. etc.

The question is what Kimberly told Elpifdophoros. Did she tell him she would remove all rainbow flags from the Embassy?  Did she tell him that she will NOT participate in ANY pride parade? Did she tell him that he and Karloutsos and Bartholomew should let the Ukrainian Orthodox faithful enjoy freedom of religion?  Ha..ha…

I would love to know…

Archbishop Elpidophoros Congratulates Ms. Kimberly Guilfoyle, Presumptive U.S. Ambassador to Greece

His Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros of America spoke today with Ms. Kimberly Guilfoyle, the presumptive nominee for U.S. Ambassador to Greece. During their conversation, Archbishop Elpidophoros congratulated Ms. Guilfoyle on her nomination by President-Elect Donald J. Trump and extended his best wishes for her success in this important role.

The Archbishop expressed his hope for the further strengthening of the historic bonds between the two nations and reaffirmed the shared commitment to the promotion of religious freedom worldwide, including the safeguarding of the Ecumenical Patriarchate.

His Eminence invited Ms. Guilfoyle to visit the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America in New York, extending warm holiday wishes for a Merry Christmas. He also expressed his eagerness to meet her in person during the upcoming Presidential Inauguration in Washington, D.C.

    • I invented “Elpidoktonos” the day after his election and it was in the form of a question: “Will he prove Elpidophoros or Elpidoktonos?” in an article written in Greek. As President Trump has proved all along, nicknames are an effective way of political communication. I think they were used extensively in ancient Greece. They are part of everyday life in Greece and throughout the Mediterranean. My first graduate research paper on social science was on “the use of nicknames in Mediterranean societies”.

      • Trump’s use of nicknames is a mean and childish way of communicating. And totally unbecoming of a president of the preeminent country in the world. People that voted for him disregarding his nicknaming are racing to the bottom of society.

Having said that, I never knew there was such a thing as nicknames having some kind of special place in Mediterranean countries. Can you scan and email me your research paper? And explain to us what use nicknames have in today’s society

        • I will try to find it – it’s a 40-yr old research paper… Using nicknames is powerful whether in a setting of a small village in Greece or Italy or in modern political space. Why? Because with one word you identify your opponents? Should I mention again the power of using “Elpidoktonos”? Or “Prince of Darkness” for Karloutsos?

  1. It is strange to imagine her having once been married to Gavin Newsom and then, more recently, being in an apparently serious relationship with Donald Trump Jr.

What do we do with such an unusual supporter? Send her halfway around the world!

Still, if Greece is attacked by Turkey during her tenure, will she be supportive of Greece? I am hopeful on that.
