A cleric beat the Metropolitan of Kydonia in Constantinople
An incident between an Archimandrite and a Metropolitan took place in the Holy Church of Pammegiston Taxiarchon in Constantinople, which belongs to the Ecumenical Patriarchate.
Everything happened yesterday afternoon, and in a video secured by protothema.gr, the Metropolitan of Kydonia Athenagoras, former Grand Archimandrite of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, can be seen entering the church to worship the icon of the Virgin Mary. A few seconds pass, and as you will see in the video, a second person appears, the Great Catechist, Archimandrite Chrysanthos, who, without warning, starts punching the Metropolitan.
The young man tries to separate the two men, which he succeeds in after a while and after the two priests exchange insults in Turkish inside the church.
According to information, the two priests had a personal dispute between them over ecclesiastical – service differences that unfortunately chose to resolve it inside the church without considering that their unacceptable behavior was recorded by the cameras.
Archimandrite Chrysanthos wanted the service to be held at 3 p.m., while Metropolitan Athenagoras suggested it be at 4 p.m.
Yesterday afternoon, the Metropolitan, ignoring the relevant announcement for 3 o’clock in the afternoon, appeared an hour later. Addressing the Archimandrite, he said, “Chrysanthe, I will not need you; you can leave.” Then the Archimandrite “went out of his mind” and attacked the Metropolitan with his fists.
Immediately after the incident, the Metropolitan of Athenagoras filed a lawsuit against Archimandrite Chrysanthos, who is wanted by the Turkish police.
The two men are said to have argued in the past on various issues, which caused great disturbance in the Patriarchate.

Επεισόδιο ανάμεσα σε έναν Αρχιμανδρίτη και έναν Μητροπολίτη σημειώθηκε στον Ιερό Ναό Παμμεγίστων Ταξιαρχών Μεγάλου Ρεύματος στην Κωνσταντινούπολη, ο οποίος ανήκει στο Οικουμενικό Πατριαρχείο
Όλα έγιναν χθες το απόγευμα και σε βίντεο που εξασφάλισε το protothema.gr, φαίνεται ο Μητροπολίτης Κυδωνιών Αθηναγόρας, πρώην Μέγας Αρχιμανδρίτης του Οικουμενικού Πατριαρχείου να εισέρχεται στο ναό για να προσκυνήσει την εικόνα της Παναγιάς. Μεσολαβούν λίγα δευτερόλεπτα κι όπως θα δείτε στο βίντεο, εμφανίζεται ένα δεύτερο πρόσωπο, ο Μέγας Κατηχητής, Αρχιμανδρίτης Χρύσανθος ο οποίος απροειδοποίητα αρχίζει να γρονθοκοπεί τον Μητροπολίτη.
Τους δυο άνδρες προσπαθεί να χωρίσει ο νεωκόρος, κάτι που καταφέρνει έπειτα από λίγο κι αφού οι δυο ιερείς ανταλλάσουν ύβρεις στα τουρκικά εντός της εκκλησίας.
Σύμφωνα με πληροφορίες οι δυο ιερείς είχαν μια προσωπική διαμάχη μεταξύ τους για εκκλησιαστικές – υπηρεσιακές διαφορές που δυστυχώς επέλεξαν να την λύσουν εντός του ναού χωρίς να υπολογίσουν ότι η απαράδεκτη συμπεριφορά τους καταγραφόταν από τις κάμερες.
Ο Αρχιμανδρίτης Χρύσανθος ήθελε η ακολουθία να πραγματοποιείται στις 3 μ.μ ενώ ο Μητροπολίτης Αθηναγόρας πρότεινε να τελείται στις 4 μ.μ.
Χθες το απόγευμα ο Μητροπολίτης αγνοώντας την σχετική ανακοίνωση για τις 3 το μεσημέρι εμφανίστηκε μια ώρα αργότερα και απευθυνόμενος προς τον αρχιμανδρίτη, του είπε, «Χρύσανθε δεν θα σε χρειαστώ, μπορείς να φύγεις». Τότε ο Αρχιμανδρίτης «βγήκε εκτός εαυτού» και επιτέθηκε με γροθιές στον Μητροπολίτη.
Ο Μητροπολίτης Αθηναγόρας αμέσως μετά το περιστατικό κατέθεσε μήνυση εναντίον του Αρχιμανδρίτη Χρύσανθου ο οποίος αναζητείται από την τουρκική αστυνομία.
Οι δυο άνδρες φέρονται να είχαν και στο παρελθόν διαμάχες για διάφορα θέματα και έχουν προκαλέσει μεγάλη αναστάτωση στο Πατριαρχείο.

If he is punished it will be by the Justice system in Turkey more than the Patriarchate… But Bartholomew has access to the Police and the Courts – everything and everyone is up for “baktshish” in Istanbul…

Forget about suspensions…Canons are being violated all over the place these days…most of these folks wouldn’t be in their positions right now if the Canons were actually applied…
Just look at the new Metropolitan of Mexico…the canons stipulate the age of 35 for the episcopal rank (written in days when the average life expectancy may have been 50 at best), and the synod promotes him at the age of 30…
The canons as well as Orthodox Tradition also clearly stipulate that the people must take part in the election of bishops…when was the last time your voice was heard as part of the process of promoting & enthroning any of the “scandal-prone specimens of shame” who are governing the Church these days?

So much is happening behind closed doors that we never would have known in bygone days because there were no cameras monitoring rooms. There is a lot more to this event which needs to be revealed.

Sir G… while Helleniscope has written volumes on attacks on clergy and churches of Orthodox Churches by Orthodox Clergy , EPi , Bart , and of course radical Islamist Clerics of Turkey, Helleniscope fails to write about the most notorious religious body who have attacked and Assaulted the Orthodox Churches of Serbia, Russia, Ukraine, Syria, and Middle East..etc etc . While Hellenicope refers to the State Department as the perpetrators of crimes against the Orthodox Churches , they fail or are reluctant to identify the .. Radicalized Evangelical/Protestant Zionist Clerics , who run the State Department and government of America who believe they are the chosen righteous people to rule the world ! Usually, these things have a deeper cause and some slight was just the last straw for the aggressor. It reminds me of the British class system. Things that would never offend someone from a more egalitarian society can cause the greatest shame in a Brit if there is an gratuitous implication that he is inferior to the other.
Certainly a failure to rein in the passions, probably by both men.
