Gianaris & Elpidoktonos Conveniently Forget GOA Is Under the Ottoman Sultan Erdogan!!

It has become clear to many of us that Bartholomew and his Archbishops have an open line with the Turkish Foreign Ministry and face constant pressure from Erdoğan and his circle. Two major issues have emerged from the recent developments surrounding St. Demetrios of Astoria:

1. Property Transactions: The sale, lease, or mortgaging of real estate belonging to the parishes no longer requires prior approval from the Attorney General. Instead, these actions will only need what is described as an “easy” court approval.

2. Archbishop’s Authority: The Archbishop now gains the right to approve any real estate transaction—whether a lease, sale, or mortgage—of parish properties. He becomes an Ottoman tax-collector in America!

Mike Gianaris’ Statements

In an interview with TNH yesterday, Mike Gianaris attempted to downplay the controversy, insisting that “nothing irregular” had occurred. He argued that “many other Christian churches have the same regulations,” while adding personal anecdotes about his connection to St. Demetrios: “I love St. Demetrios. I got married there. My father’s funeral took place there.”

Yet these remarks offer little reassurance. What neither Gianaris nor AB Elpidophoros—nor anyone within GOARCH—dares to acknowledge is a fundamental truth: no other Christian denomination operates under the shadow of the Ottoman Sultan Erdoğan. Neither the Roman Catholic, Episcopal, nor Protestant churches are subject to such external control. Their refusal to admit this simple fact only underscores the underhanded nature of the current situation. 

Example: Elpidophoros wants to become Patriarch.  How will he achieve this without paying “favors” to Erdogan? In Turkey, all official positions are bought and paid for with “bakhtsish”… Where will Elpidophoros find it? You guessed it… 

It is evident to all of us that Bartholomew and his Archbishops not only have an open line with the Turkish Foreign Ministry, but the Sultan Erdogan and his minions constantly blackmail them… The Turks have many ways to blackmail them as they all – and especially Bartholomew – have a very blemished past.  How do we know that now that the Turks know that the Archbishop has total control over our property, they will not blackmail them to sell and transfer money to them?

Public Reaction

Gianaris has reportedly been in a state of panic over the past few days, following a flood of angry calls to his Queens office. Many Greek Americans and Queens residents yesterday received campaign materials promoting his supposed efforts to “strengthen schools”—ironically, by empowering teachers’ unions.

The Greek community sees this as hypocrisy. Strengthening our schools cannot mean surrendering them to political or ecclesiastical interests that threaten Hellenic identity. We urge everyone: do not reward these actions at the ballot box. Do not ever again vote for Gianaaris!! Continue calling his office to protest!

A Call to the Greek-American Community

Despite these troubling events, there is hope. The Greek-American community stands united and alert. This is our defining moment—our modern-day Marathon.

If we allow the Phanariote establishment to seize control of our parishes, we risk losing not only our Church but our identity as a community in America. The neo-Ottoman agenda—pursued through the Patriarchate and its appointed Archbishops—seeks to weaken Hellenism at its strongest point: the Diaspora. They know that the downfall of the Ottoman Empire, 200-100 years ago, was driven by the power and influence of Hellenes abroad, through movements like the Filiki Eteria and visionaries such as Ioannis Kapodistrias.

We must not forget that it was the Phanariotes, collaborating with foreign powers, who conspired in Kapodistrias’ assassination. Today, their successors serve once again as instruments of foreign interests—this time against our own people.
